To answer my own question of sorts from dd-wrt forums 21286 has been used by some owners of this router for a few weeks with out issues. I've just upgraded from Buffalo DD-WRT to it and everything works so far. The main thing I've notices is wifi seems a lot stronger. I'll post updates....

How nice! Is the Wifi signal also stronger then Buffalo stock firmware 1,74/1.76?

I've never used the stock Buffalo firmware, only ever used the 'Pro' DD-WRT build provided by Buffalo.

Day 2 still no problems, range and signal strength is better than Buffalo DD-WRT.

I've had 7 devices connected at once (max we have) no problem including streaming HD to a media setup. I've done some heavy upload and downloading as well. It's all good so far on 21286 for me (I have the v1 fyi)

I tried DD-WRT 21286. The wifi seems more stable than with OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment but I still had it drop out.   I'm back on Buffalo 1.74.

WIth me the problem is my notebook with a Broadcom 802.11n board.  Only the 1.74 firmware seems to let it stay connected reliably.   It may also be related to radio frequency congestion in my apartment area.   On the other hand, my tablet that uses a TI chip doesn't have connectivity problems.

We've got a mix of HTC devices, Nexus, PS3, iOS devices, intel and realtek wifi cards. No broadcom...

The only way to fix it is run the startup script mentioned by other members.

like

swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev switch0 set apply
swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 0
swconfig dev switch0 set apply

or

swconfig dev switch0 port 3 set pvid 6
swconfig dev switch0 port 2 set pvid 6
swconfig dev switch0 port 1 set pvid 6
swconfig dev switch0 port 0 set pvid 6

my hardware revision is labeled on the back as A2 A0 too.

I see this dd-wrt build it's rather old and doesn't haves full support for transmission (torrent client) and samba shares.

It's there a dd-wrt firmware which does the same as the buffalo one:

- BitTorrent client.
- Samba shares
- DLNA Server
- USB off after 10 minutos whithout using it.

I thought the professional dd-wrt was a MEGA version of dd-wrt with all the bells and whistles of dd-wrt. But after installing it it's only the standard version which doesn't haves nothing special.
