Can i use this directly from the buffallo dd-wrt firmware or do i have to install another "special" Version before?

Can i switch back to the Buffalo dd-wrt directly or do i have to use a "special" revert-image?

Is there somewhere an official download source of this build?

I had the latest alpha installed from Bufallo. Than I used the file to upgrade and it worked. Just has to be DD-WRT installed.

First install the Alpha version from Buffalo website, then upgrade it to version 17461 if you wish.

To revert back to Buffalo standard firmware visit the pages below:

I noticed this FW build in the dd-wrt forum this morning and installed it. It has been running well, so I headed over here and it appears that you have already posted on this fw. I am running wzr-hp-g300nh2.

The Loopback is still not functioning, so if you require it add this script to your firewall script in adminstration tab in commands.

insmod ipt_mark
insmod xt_mark
iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -i ! `get_wanface` -d `nvram get wan_ipaddr` -j MARK --set-mark 0xd001
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -m mark --mark 0xd001 -j MASQUERADE

Other than that, it looks like this fw was bricking a certain router due to its flash size being larger than the router flash. This should not be an issue with the Buffalo router, it has a large flash ram.

DDNS appears to be working again.

If i want to revert back to the Buffalo alpha version, can i do this directly or do i have to install the user friendly version first?

I currently reverted to the v34-sp2 build 14998 (professional) and don't see Samba Server under NAS settings.

The build you mentioned does not exist on Buffalo's firmware upgrade page for the router anymore.

Was setting the samba server up as easy as flashing with the build 17461 and then enabling the samba server?

Where can I actually find this firmware build as the only newer one posted is an alpha version.

Many thanks.

That's what I did.  Couldn't downgrade the firmware so flashed with friendly firmware first and then put back 14998.

17798-alpha is the latest firmware available from buffalo, i just checked it now on thier website and its still there. if you cant find it then i guess you shoudl just give up on this since your going to have non stop problems due to your lack of knowledge.

Thank you so much for this thread + DD-WRT image!

It is most definitely the best one available that I've came across so far - and I've tried quite a lot of the (DD-WRT, Buffalo's user friendly & DD-WRT) image.

The DD-WRT images by Buffalo and the ones found on the WZR HP G300NH DD-WRT wiki page are all prone to give wireless disconnection issues, since they don't use the atheros 9k WiFi driver (like found in this image).

This DD-WRT image is just so much easier to configure than the silly "user friendly" one from Buffalo + I got slightly better throughput with it too.

Unfortunately for me, it seems like my Intel 4965AGN WiFi card that I have in my Dell 9400 is limited to only 130Mbps connectivity. The fastest that I got so far was an average upload speed of 80Mbps via my WZR HP G300NH v1 to my HP Proliant Microserver via SAMBA shares.

I'm definitely going to recommend this image & thread to my friends.

I'm currently running FW DD-WRT 17798, which is the latest alpha Buffalo build.

Can anyone recommend moving to a non Buffalo DD-WRT firmware?  For instance r18777?

Well I've installed r18777 and all appears to be working OK.  Signal strength to my network enabled radio in the kitchen is stronger and my laptop is showing 300Mbps mode and channel extension in inSSIDer.

Copying a ~3Gb file from my desktop (wired to router) to my laptop (wireless to router) via simple copy and paste yields 8.7 megabytes a second in the Windows 7 dialogue box.  Does this sound OK?

with user friendly firmware in 40mhz mode i get 14.2 megabytes per second copying from my server to my wifi laptop that uses tp-link atheros based wifi card.
