Linkstation Multimedia Home Server 300GB (HSD300GL) and PS3
« on: October 14, 2008, 02:43:53 AM »

I recently purchased a LS 300GB and having issues with the PS3 seeing it as a media server.  I have this settings for my PCast settings:

Media Server: Enable

Media Folder: share

PCast Password: Disable

Limit DLNA Client Access: Disable

Linkstation firware: 1.49

Linkstation IP: 192.168.10.100

PS3 version 2.43

PS3 IP: 192.168.10.176

Networking: Static, Nat Type 2

Everytime I do a search for media server, PS3 does not find any.  Ideas? Comments?

Thanks in advance!

Settings look OK, try to flash the firmware then set the unit back to factory defaults (this will not cause any data loss, it will only clear out the user configuration).

Thanks for the reply.  I will do this when I get home.  BTW, I'll download this firmware to try: http://downloads.buffalotech.com/HS-DGL_FW149_031506.zip

It appears like that is the one for me when I selected my model number.

On a separate note, can I do two things:

1. Set permissions on the "usbdisk1" folder for the HDD attached to the back of my LS

2. Attach NTFS HDD USB drives and make it readable.  This did not appear to work for me.  I had to do a Format from the Maintenace page for the LS to recongize it.

Thanks again in advance!

I reflashed the firmware and changed the PCast settings back to enable and it still does not work.  Is it possible to test the LS without a PS3?  Then I can determine where the issue is.

Don't ask me how it happened, but I managed to corrupt my LS now.  When the LS starts, it gives me 6 blinking lights.  I know that's not a good sign.

If you run the Nas software does it give off an IP address?

If it does you can just flash the firmware again.  If not then plug it directly into your pc and set a static address of 192.168.11.10, and do a hard reset to the unit to factory defaults.

Then power up the unit while holding down the init button, this will boot it into em mode, try to flash the firmware again, the buffalo should be sitting on IP address 192.168.11.150
