Cable modem disconnect because of router?
« on: July 17, 2011, 06:57:49 PM »

I have a WHR-HP-GN running DD-WRT 14998 and I have been experiencing disconnects with my cable modem to the ISP. After resetting the modem, it will work for 5 minutes or a few hours before losing the connection again (cable light on modem goes out). The router appears to be working without error. I am able to maintain a solid connection at all times. I called my ISP and asked them about this and they informed me that my router was causing the cable modem to lose its connection to the ISP. They apparently couldnt tell me anything specific about how this was happening, but instead told me I should ask the manufacturers of the router.

Is it even possible for a router to somehow cause the cable modem to drop its connection? The cable modem's log states a SYNC timing syncronization failure, can a router cause this?

Thank you for your help!
