I want to be able to wake up computer when i'm away from the house, say at work. I'm able to wake up my computer when i'm on my home network with no problems. The issue is that I can only wake my computer when i'm outside of the home network if the computer has gone into "Sleep" mode in the last minute or so. If an extended amount of time has passed since the computer went to sleep, the computer does not wake.
I've checked the log file in my router and the packet has been forwarded successfully to the IP address of my machine. What could cause WOL to work externally only if the computer has just recently went to sleep?
