WLI-PCI-G300N Windows 7 Support
« on: April 20, 2010, 03:50:16 PM »

Tried to install my WLI-PCI-G300N PCI Card in my new WIndows 7 machine (64 Bit) - All went according to plan until  I get a "Windows requires digitally signed driver" message with no option to skip/ignore.

Is there any support (drivers) for Win 7?

I really hope after buying this a few months ago (For my previous XP machine)  I don't have to lay out again.

Thanks

PS Any unnoficial tips to make it work would be welcome

The problem is not the windows 7 operating system rather that the system is 64 bit and not 32 bit. Currently the only wireless drivers that buffalo has is 32 bit.

I realize the 64 bit part...I actually talked to Buffalo over the phone and they blamed it on Broadcom not supporting 64 bit.

Strangely I then uninstalled my failed Buffalo drivers....Win 7 found the card and installed new drivers (That strangely say Broadcom).

The wireless card now works perfect on Win 7 64 Bit. I have no idea how if Buffalo was correct in their assesment but who cares as long as it works, right?

The Buffalo software doesn't but I didn't use it before anyway.

Generally, for most 64-bit drivers there are unsupported/3rd party that are written/edited in order to accomodate for these kinds of situations.  As the package should show that 32-bit drivers are included, most manufacturers don't offer 64-bit support straightaway or sometimes ever.  That's usually when community support steps in and utilization of search engines is a must.

I replied to your post:  http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Wireless/WLI-U2-G300N-on-Windows7/m-p/29232/highlight/true#M4693

Strange that you mention Broadcom.  The sticker on the bottom of mine says:  IC  6102A-009

That led me to a pair of Marvell chipsets.  I'm curious as to what your WLI-U2-G300N lists as the IC on the bottom.
