HD-CE500U2 Problems
« on: February 19, 2009, 11:16:45 AM »

This drive was working perfectly fine until i installed the firmware update. After i unplugged it from the front panel on my computer and into the rear usb ports, it no longer shows up in disk manager or my computer on windows vista.

On my XP laptop it's the same story. Fails to install drivers and it's incredibly annoying since i use it for data backups and some important documents.

Does anyone know a fix? or a way to downgrade the drive?

I have the same problem. Bought this hard drive over 6 months ago and it will not work with my computer on Windows XP. Just doesn't recognize it! When I click my computer it does not show up there.

This is a perfect example of the mantra "if it's not broken, don't fix it." I believe that something interrupted the firmware update, and caused the issue.

I recommend calling your local support office for an RMA.

I saw where ther was some sort of firmware update Buffal put out for this unit. i don't believe I ever saw this notice, nor did the update. Maybe I am better off not doing this update since my HD seems to be working reasonable well,...and is recqonized by my XP computer and my Win7 computer??
