WZR-HP-G300NH, Fmversion 1.65 , BT file size issue
« on: October 20, 2009, 04:26:11 AM »

Hi there , I connected this router with a 20G USB HDD with XFS formt .  This HDD is for BT only , no share ed fold/files except the ' bttorrent' directory . When I added two seeds , one is a 4G file and another is a 8G file and kick off  the transfer . The BT  proces stop when both seeds is reach 70%  progress . it says " disk space is not enough "

Also , when I have a finished seed which size is 8G, it  can not add another 8G seeds although the HDD is still has 12G free space .

For me , it seems the BT  client always calculate file size doubled as it should be .

Is there any  option to let the file size ccalculation to be normal ?

OMG, this problem still not fixed in v1.65 firmware?

It is silly that the BT client always double counting file size.

I suspect the client is downloading files in hidden area on HDD

At same time, it reserve same amount of space on HDD for transferring hidden file upon complete downloading

Very stupid.

Why need screen shots? I suppose you have a 300NH unit. Just start a download with one or two big size files, check the remaining HDD space reading in the Client after 2 hours or so, do a simple math and you will understand our problem.

Hi,

I have the same problem. I just use 8GB flash drive.

I took it out and check it with the PC, and the same file is stored in two places.

One is .BUFFALO\bittorrent\_tmp\torrents\xxxxxxxxxxxxx\work.

The other is under bittorrent\. This directory appears as the Shared folder. So the first one seems to be a temporary folder but it is not even removed until you delete the torrent.

I do not think this is new in 1.65.

Both FAT32 and XFS have the problem.

I hope it is fixed.

1) Screenshots of host name on Apple computer

2) Ethernet MAC addresses

3) Screenshots of error screen

4) all other screenshots you think may be relavent

Post here or send to me:

Thank you Jimmyjin - I got them and sent them on to Japan.

The more screenshots I can get that detail the issues, the better for getting a fix out faster.

In Japan, the engineers aren't having any issues with Bit Torrent and if they can't reproduce the issues, they can't find the fix.

Many times on these forums, a bug is mentioned, but no screenshots and not much detail. People just assume that the engineers in Japan can reproduce every issue, without enough information to fully and accurately describe the issue.

If a customer is having trouble with a specific Bit Torrent  or file,  information about the exact Bit Torrent or a copy of the file helps to reproduce the issue.

Hi

I think it's an common issue no matter where and who generate the bit torrent seeds .  The BT client always count the file size doubled .  My screen shots is just an example , actually every BT seeds I used  have same issue .

I tried to set attribbute to show Hidden File and System File, but still cannot see it.

As I wrote, I attached my flash drive to the PC to read the entire drive. Shared folder only allows me to see bittorrent directory.

At that time, I was using FAT32.

I had the same problem with XFS format, but I did not check the directory since I do not have a Linux PC.

I checked with Buffalo Japan - they said the BT function of WZR-HP-G300NH uises twice the space of the downloading file size due to the way the spec was written for this unit.

I have a suggestion, please ask Japan Buffalo not to make the downloading files hidden.

So user can access them even if they are not completely downloaded. (i.e. for those stuck at 99% files which can be used without the 1%)
