WZR-HP-G300NH NAT Table Size?
« on: September 12, 2009, 10:07:59 PM »

Just did some test on this router, it appears to have a rather small NAT table?

NAT    ip_conntrack: table full, dropping packet.

Is there any way to fix this , like soon? If not i'll be letting it go to my colleague who just requires a high powered transmitter.

Please do advise on this, thank you.

I suppose you run bit torrent application thru the router. If so, try to reduce the number of connections or disable DHT network at the bit torrent application setting, option or property.  However this is temporary avoidance. The router should work without such application concerning, I think. Because of the other manufacture routers do not have this problem.

Ive waited the firmware update since few months ago.  Buff does not provide any information about that.

If you are in harrying, I recommend you think another router with legally proper high gain antenna.

true. its really great wireless performance, but small NAT table size.

kinda pity considering its features.

with its firmware already at 1.61, i wonder when this NAT table size would be solved.

Based on my own unscientific testing, the NAT table size of WZR-HP-G300NH (1.60 firmware) is probably around 400 concurrent connections.

When I first got my WZR-HP-G300NH, I noticed that when the number of connections used by uTorrent client (in Help -> Show Statistics) goes above 350 and approaching 400, my router's log will start showing a couple lines of "NAT ip_conntrack: table full, dropping packet" messages.

After I limited the global maximum number of connections in uTorrent client to 300, I have not seen any more nat table full messages.

I hope future firmware updates will increase the NAT table size.

We forwarded the NAT table details to the Japanese engineers and they are looking at it, along with several other issues for the WZR-HP-G300NH

thats great to hear, hopefully something comes out of it.

wanted to sell mine off to a friend who doesnt require big NAT, but ended up getting another of the G300NH for his high powered broadcast.

hope this gets solved along with the option to adjust the wireless transmit power.
i am fearful of it being in my very room LOL

I don't know exactly what Japan engineers are looking for - they won't say. Just post everything dealing with NAT that isn't personal and let's see if we can clear this issue with a FW update.
