IPv6 ready wireless routers?
« on: April 12, 2009, 11:41:02 AM »

Does anyone know whether any of the wireless routers from Buffalo support IPv6 out of the box? I couldn't see this listed on any of the product specifications.

I have the WHR-G300N which seems to support IPV6 Pass Through.

That is good to know, since it offers some possibility, though it can't act as IPv6 DSL/router. What I mean by that is that there is no DHCPv6 or rtavd support? Either of these two are necessary in order to be able to have an IPv6 subnet. From my understanding IPv6 pass through simply means it is acting as a bridge.

That's right, like most routers meant  for home use, this router only supports pass through, which means bridge only.

Could it be possible to get full IPv6 support by updating the firmware in the future or is the hardware made so that it's not possible?

Its all firmware when it comes to IPv6. So a firmware update could add this support in the future.

I just got a WZR-HP-G300HN and there are options to enable both IPv6 and radvd. It does not, however include an ipv6 firewall - you'll need to firewall each host.
