WHR-G300N Port Forwarding
« on: March 09, 2009, 02:51:20 AM »

Hi, I've been testing port forwarding on the WHR-G300N. I've forwarded certain ports (5060 etc for voip) but when I use a port scanner it does not show these ports open(both from LAN and Internet Side), the port scanner only shows ports 21,25,80,110,119 and 143 as open.

Why doesn't it show the ports I forwarded as open or is this normal?

Thanks.

How did you get port forwarding to work? I've been trying with no luck.

I just forwards the ports I needed to the IP of what needed the ports opened, then tested it from the internet side(from LAN side it will show router config or nothing happens), and it worked fine.

That is really weird. I wonder if something is wrong with my router. We tried several steps including reinitializing the router and it still does not allow port forwarding. I'll take it to another location and see if I can get it to work. Thanks for the quick reply.

BTW, are you running the latest firmware?

Firmware Version 1.60 which came with the router, nothing newer is available yet.

Just bought the WZR-HP-G300NH and I'm also trying to port forward my ftp running on my nas.

I too have this problem (from LAN side it will show router config or nothing happens).

Works fine with my replaced linksys g router but not this new router.

Port forwarding seems to stop at the router and not accessing to my ftp.

Any help here?

When trying from the LAN side all that will happen is either say it can't find the page or bring up the router config, test it from the WAN(internet) side of the router after forwarding ftp port 21 to the NAS and it should work fine, So enter routerip:21 in your browser from WAN side.

Proxy, please read the forum guidelines.  Talking about 3rd party firmware is against them.  You have done it twice, once more and I will ban you permanently by IP.
