WHR-G300N Router and Access Point
« on: December 13, 2008, 09:31:53 PM »

Hi, I'm thinking of getting the Buffalo Wireless-N Nfiniti Router & AP, is it possible to disable router mode (and enable access point mode) and still use the 4 port switch that is built in? Also, how is it so cheap to buy? it's like half the price of other manafacturers and whats the estimated wireless range(about 300meters?)

thanks in advance.

Yes, it is possible to use it in AP mode, but you can use only 3 RJ-45 ports to switch PS's. The other port is to switch existing LAN. I bought one today.

Excuse my bad English

Does anyone know what the approximate line-of-sight wireless range it has?

Thanks

There are to many factors that can come in to play,

what channel are you running

what else in the area is running on a 2.4

any obstructions blocking the line of site

Well I don't have the router yet, I do have a directional antenna/router (from my ISP) up high on my roof for broadband which is at 2.4GHz I think but don't know which channel it's at, and I'm talking total line of sight without obstruction. Isn't there at advertised range on this AP? some routers say up to 450 meters.
