Another "check disk" question (LS-L320GL Linkstation EZ 320GB)
« on: February 13, 2009, 02:36:36 PM »

Just purchased the 320GB version - Installed easily enough (under XP).  Figured I'd do a check disk before any real activity.  The dialog box says Running check disk, but the title says (Not Responding).  Activity LED stays mostly solid, and blinks occassionally.  It's been like this awhile.  Also I noticed I if don't access the drive for a few minutes Windows explorer indicates the drive status keeps changing to disconnected network drive.

How long should check disk take on 320GB drive?

Also, NAS Navigator shows the Workgroup is called WORKGROUP - Can I change this?

Thanks.

Hi, a disk check takes approx 25 seconds on my EZ 320.
During the check the activity LED flashes orange and green. When complete I get a popup saying "Disk check completed".
.
As far a changing the Workgroup name, I have no idea if that's possible, but it hasn't caused me any apparent difficulties, even though my PC's have a different Workgroup name.
.
Also I've never seen the status change to disconnected on mine.
.
Sorry I can't help you more, good luck.

Roger1, thanks for the reply.  When it was hung up, the LED occasionally blinked green, but it had never been orange...  After leaving it hung up overnight, I ended up killing the NAS Navigator application this morning, and running the check disk again.  This time it completed in under 30 seconds, with the LED blinking as you described.

Thanks for your help.
