Linkstation keeps asking for username & password
« on: December 31, 2012, 09:18:19 AM »

I have a Linkstation live 500GB which I can see using NASNavigator2 but I'm having trouble accessing it from my laptop over my network. If I connect the drive straight into my laptop it works perfectly but when connected through my router it keeps asking me for the "Username" & "Password". I have very little knowledge of networks etc so can anyone help me reslove this issue.

Thanks

Are you able to open up settings and access the "Users/Groups" tab?

If so, you should be able to set up at least one account for yourself, then give that account "read&write" privileges to all your folders under the "shared folders" tab.

In that case the username and password should be whatever you made them.

See page 60 of the owners manual.

I can open the web settings if thats what you mean.

I haven't made any users/passwords at all, I've reset to defaults for logging onto web settings page but thats it.

Probably about 25% of the times I try to access the NAS drive it lets me straight in without asking for a password etc but most of the time I get asked for one.

For info I have firmware 1.12 installed

I would recommend creating a username and password in the web settings.
