Including Linkstation folders in Win 7 Libraries
« on: June 22, 2012, 02:33:41 PM »

I have a Linkstation Mini LS-WS 1TB (LS-WS1.0TGL/R1) with firmware 1.6 and Navigator 2.51.  My client PCs are Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit and Win 7 Home Professional 64 bit.  I want to know if folders on my linkstation can be included in Windows 7 Libraries.  When clicking on the LS folders I don't get the option appearing in the Explorer toolbar "Include in Library".  Can this feature be "enabled" in some way?

The criteria to include a network folder in a Windows 7 library:

- A network folder must be added to the index or made available offline before it can be included in a library.

Libraries: frequently asked questions

It is not possible since Windows 7 won't be able to index a network folder of non-Windows origin (incompatible file-system; Buffalo NAS is using Linux-based file-system that doesn't index in similar fashion as Windows-based file-system). Buffalo NAS is using XFS or EXT3 instead of FAT or NTFS.

If your concern is more about indexing files like music/movie files, you can use DLNA service available on some Buffalo NAS models.
