: CloudStation DLNA not working
: sixdoublesix February 28, 2012, 12:30:11 PM

I have the single drive 1TB Cloudstation and I copied my films from my Mac to the NAS to stream to my PS3 and Samsung Smart TV. Had no problems before with a LinkStation Live and I have set the DLNA correct in the CloudStation.

Probelm is when I got to select a film, I can navigate to it but it says NOT SUPPORTED FORMAT. I have tried MP4, AVI and MOV on both the PS3 and SMart TV but it wont stream.

Anyone have any ideas why? all the files worked fine and streamed on my old LinkStation

for the PS3, have you tried this to check the file types for PS3?

Hi, Yes I have the correct files but the CloudStation is for some reson not streaming them in the correct format. The DLNA is working as the files can be found.

All the files were from my LinkStation so I know they work.

This kind of suprises me, cause on the box it cleary stated that you can stream multimedia content to any DLNA or uPnP A/V media playback device. I have the same problem. I can't stream any music or movies to neither my TV or mediastreamer and that's why i bought this cloudstation. Now you're telling me it's not DLNA certified? Shame on you Buffalo.

I have the same problem with the Cloudstation but will dlna work with the Linkstation?

Most Linkstations are DLNA certified.

Who gave you this information??

It is wrong!

Have a look at

http://www.buffalo-cloudstation.com/en/products.htm

It clearly states "DLNA" certification for all three cloudstation models!

Hi djnkhq,

did you enable streaming in configuration settings?  By default it is disabled.  After manually enabling it works for me.  My Samsung TV sees the cloudstation and can stream photos, music, video.

To enable:

1. goto http://cloudstor.pogoplug.com and login

2. click "Media settings" on the left side

3. Change "Stream photos, videos and music to your PS3™ and Xbox 360" from "disable" to "enable" and click "Apply changes"

Axe, this is a USA forum. Devices for other regions have different specifications. The unit is NOT DLNA certified. While it may support PS3 and the Xbox it is not DLNA certified. With this feature enabled it may be seen on other devices, but it may or may not work and is not supported to work.

: Re: CloudStation DLNA not working
: axe March 28, 2012, 01:25:23 PM

So you want to say that in Europe the devices are advertised as DLNA certified even so in real they are not DLNA certified?? Interesting interesting.... if this is true, one could say bufallo is lying and advertising in europe with features that the device does not support ?

By the way, media streaming is done by software and there is only one Firmware for cloudstation not a different one for europe and USA. This means USA devices and Europe devices both have the SAME media server. How is it in this case possible that media server on europe devices is specified as DLNA certified and media server on USA devices is NOT DLNA certified?

Is the european DLNA standard something different than USA DLNA standard?

Very confusing....

--------

Ahh found something very interesting, going to cloudstor US product page on facebook

https://www.facebook.com/BuffaloTech/app_4949752878

It tells:  DLNA certified !!!

The specification table there ist exactly the same as on

http://www.buffalocloudstor.com/products/

except that on http://www.buffalocloudstor.com/products/ the row with DLNA certified is missing!

Seems that one of the marketing guys at Buffalo did not cheat correctly and forgot to change the product details on facebook!!  I bet when cloudstor devices where launched in US,  they were advertised with DLNA certified too.   And some time later Buffalo decided out of some unknown reasons to silently "remove" the feature.  But pittyfully Buffalo forgot to remove it from all websites and facebook sites...

Like I said, this is a USA forum. Our device in the USA is not DLNA certified. If you need help with a European model you need to contact their support. They may have the same version number of firmware but it may not be the same firmware. Perhaps there was a mistake on the DLNA statement from sales. I will have this updated. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Hi Axe,

I tried it all, a couple of times, no succes. Does anyone know where to find support for an European Model? I think mine is broke cause i read the packaging again and it's clearly stating that it comes with an intergrated DNLA Certified multimedia streamer.

djnkhq, WHAT does not work in your case?  Do you see the setting to enable DLNA:

To enable:

1. goto http://cloudstor.pogoplug.com and login

2. click "Media settings" on the left side

3. Change "Stream photos, videos and music to your PS3™ and Xbox 360" from "disable" to "enable" and click "Apply changes"

??

Does your TV / player "see" your Cloudsation / pogoplug Device AFTER enabling using the above steps?

Or is only playbach not working?  Images? Music? What does happen?

Europe support:  http://www.buffalotech.com  select in the upper right corner region europe.

I'm having the same troubles. I have a Sony Bluray player (BDV E880) connected in my network. I can see the Cloudstation in the network on my bluray player and acces and navigate through the folders. In the folders i see all the media (foto's, music and video) but when i try to play/acces it it doesn't display it.

I tried enabling the stream photo/video/music to PS3 and XBOX fuction, even tried transcoding media..

What am i doing wrong? is there something i missed?

Everywhere i could buy a Cloudstation i see it is DLNA certified so my hopes are still ok!

Who could help me? Thanks

if you need any other info about my setup please ask

Hoi Axe,

Sorry for the late response. My Samsung TV finds the Cloudstation and i can see all the files. When I try to stream the movie or audio through my TV or audiostreamer, I get the warning "File could not be openend". I even restored my Cloudstation to factory defaults, but stil the same warning.

Kind Regards

JJ

Got a  same problem. I bought this drive only because it is described as a DNLA-certified. I cannot play videos on my Samsung TV. Can somebody from Buffalo solve this problem?

OK... Maybe I'm blind or I'm fool... Or I'm crazy....
Or maybe my english is too-far-from-perfect to translate it right...
Did you see this label on the box?

It's a mistake on the box, I can guarantee you 100% that this device IS NOT DLNA certified!

Mistake?! Hmmm.... it's looks more like a lie, I guees....

You can interpt it whatever why you want, either way it's not DLNA

Can we have this confirmed in writing, not just from a random forum member

oh great so lets start a new "business", we sell watches which are on the box declared as real gold. In real it is just cheap plastic painted with golden color.

If customer complains that he paid for real gold instead of plastic let us just tell him, "sorry it is a mistake on the box - bad luck for you that you paid for real gold" ....

Nice way to become rich by cheating.

I buy My Buffalo Cloudstation Pro Duo 4Gb at this week. First thing what I tested after installation, copying my music and pictures to the device is how I can now easily listen music trough my tv with wired network. (My computerstuff are opposite side of house than my HiFi-system) Well, I can see pogoplug: CS-WV1DE-device at my tv and all music albums are listed, but when I tried to listen them my Sony says: Folder is empty. I can listen my music from my computer. But I wanted that I can access to my music-library all the time, even when my computer is not turned on. Not worked. My salvation at this case is that I have XBOX360 too. With XBOX360 all works fine. But using it for music somehow complicated. I hope they get dlna working as there mentioned quite clearly at package.

I'm was not wise enough to read these support-forums before I buy this device. And maybe ever come here if all has worked as I expected. But my world not ending here. I'm still very excited about this storage. I think I make good buy. I get optical fibre and speedy connection to the internet very soon. Hope to see pogolug-program for Meego (N9) some day...

Big picture there: Package back-cover

Actually in finnish-language-section there is no mention about dlna-compability, but everywhere else it is.

Access your Cloudstation through SMB share if your Sony is able to do this.

Buffalo was not able to include a fully functional DLNA compatible mediaserver / streaming server like e.g. Twonky. even they advertised it as DLNA certified on product package!

> Access your Cloudstation through SMB share if your Sony is able to do this.

My Sony KDL-40EX503 can't show any media from CS-WV1DE Pgoplug drive. I can see folders, but Sony says there's nothing to see. No big problem because I have Xbox360. Not everyone has PS3 or Xbox360. Someone else could be very disappointed.
