The Buffalo web site indicates that the performance speed has been increased greatly in the 2nd generation Linkstations over the 1st gen. Speed was an issue cited by numerous reviews I read. Can someone point me to a source/article/review that discusses what was changed/added/modified that resulted in the increased speed. I really want to get product (possibly Buffalo) for backup, media streaming and generally getting my home ready for the leap in home entertainment. That the Linkstations are LPNA compliant is a big plus. Also, I just saw that HP's SmartMedia server is now out with its next gen.

I don't know of any articles that specifically discuss the changes, but the new series of Linkstations and Terastations run an ARM archetecture as opposed to PowerPC on the old series. The new units have their processors clocked at a higher speed, as well.
