: web access does not work from outside
: saviomf March 02, 2011, 09:13:30 PM

Hello,

I'm really struggling with this for the last couple of weeks. I purchased a LS-CHLD2D, the 1.0T. I can access the shared folders from inside my home network at 192.168.x.x:9000; however it does not work from outside. I have a comcast cable modem which does not have a static external IP address. I followed the instructions on some of the posts but to no avail. Here is what I have tried so far.

1) The IP address on the livestation is kept static at 192.168.x.x

2) Set the external and internal port to 9000 in Webaccess Service

3) Forwarded port 9000 on the router to this IP 192.168.x.x

From inside my network, works like a charm. From outside I get Internet explorer cannot open the page. I'm out of ideas, Help!!!

You need to forward port 9000 to the ip address of the linkstation in your router. If the ports are not properly forwarded you will never be able to access your data remotely.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have already tried that. I forwarded port 9000 to the IP address of my linkstation. In the beginning the uPnP on my linkstation was enabled and the external port was 34423. I disabled uPnP on the linkstation and changed the external port to 9000. The internal port is also 9000. I also diabled uPnP on the router. That did not make a difference either

This is definitely a port forarding issue. You may have a double NAT somewhere.
