Does the laptop make a sound when you plug in the device as if its recognizing that a new device is being plugged in? Are you able to see the drive through disk management?

You didnt answer my questions though. Does the laptop make a sound when the device is plugged in? And can you view the device through disk management?

What about disk management? Start, right click my computer, computer management. Then in the new window go to disk management. It should show up as a drive with around the same size in GB's as the unit.

You could try another usb cable. Otherwise it could be a faulty unit. It should show up in disk management.

The only other thing you could try would be another pc. Otherwise you'll have to take appart the case and get to the drive. Btw, this will void your warranty and I cannot help you do that. Other users may know how to do this though.
