: LS-CHL(2TB) Flashing Blue Lights without pause
: erikdenner August 28, 2010, 08:46:35 AM

Hi,

Couple of days ago, when I started up the Linkstation it startup up with the blue light flashing. I assumed it might be doing an fsck or some such and would be available soon. Two days later and it is still flashing blue and I can't get a web UI login or have it show up in the Navstation software.

The docs mention various bad things from the flashing blue light but they mention specific counts of flashes.  Mine is just flashing in quick succession without pause. I've already tried put it in EM mode, but when i try it both of lights keep flashing then.

I've even tried conect it directly to my computer, but still the same.

What else can I do? I also wonder if there is technical assistance in Miami (US) or Belo Horizonte-MG (Brazil). Thanks.

Please try an EM Mode boot followed by a Forced FW Update  need to try to get the unit in the em mode to be able to get a connection for the firmware to be transferred successfully

I can't, the Function lights just doesnt go solid.

Even with the EM mode boot the light stays flashing?  When first attempting an EM mode boot the only light that should be on is the function light

Yeah, the light stays flashing. both of them, the function and the other one.

Does the NAS Navi show any status of the drive at all?

No, none.

Seems like there's no conection between my computer and the LinkStation.

The light pattern when you're booting into EM sounds correct but the fact you're not able to get a status from NAS Navi sounds like you'll need to attempt a TFTP boot.

I've tried TFTP boot and got stuck in "accepting requests".

Stranger and stranger.  A normal boot yields a constantly flashing light, which indicates a disk check, but will not correct itself and none of the recovery methods work?  Possible bad unit, how long have you had it.

I got it lat month, not for so long. Is there any technical support in Brazil or Miami?

Well the return would be dependent on where you purchased it from.  If you bought it in Brazil (+57 (1) 603 2908) or if you bought it from the US (866-752-6210) those respective regions will only be able to perform an RMA bought within their realm.

Hi,

I'm seeing the same issue with my ls-xhl 2TB unit.

How I got into this was;

Downgraded from 1.34 to 1.24 firmware (hoping this would solve my media server issues) but forgot to check 'force update' flag in the debug window.

I have tired to force EM mode but this doesn't seem to work (at least following the faq) and the unit is sitting at my desk with both the function and the status led flashing continuous blue. I can hear occasional hard disc activity so I'm assuming a file system check is happening.

So my question is, how long should this take? I started this about 12 hours ago.

Any advice welcome.

Thankyou

Dan

p.s drive is about 25% full if thats relevant.

I'd just thought I'd follow up my previous post. Had the new qnap ts-110 for a month of so now. Wow what an awesome piece of kit.

Anyone having issues like I did with the crappy ls-xhl, I'd highly recommend jumping ship and going for the qnap.

Cheers
