: VMWare ESXi 4.0.0 Buffalo Terastation PRO ISCSI
: dubbink February 25, 2010, 10:50:47 AM

I have a Buffalo TeraStation Pro ISCSI model TS-R1GL/R5 F/W 1.01

I am trying to connect this unit to a VMWare host running ESXi 4.0.0

I have no clue what to do....  I have found various articles about other versions of ESX/ESXi and different Buffalo ISCSI models, but I want to make sure I get this right.

Is there any help you can give me?

I am a newbie at VMWare - my VMWare guy up and quit prior to getting this set up.

I want to move my VM server files to the ISCSI and use part of the ISCSI for file storage.

Most important is the VMWare part....

Please help!!

Thanks.

In the Terastation, configure a single volume, and make sure the iSCSI service is enabled.

In the vSphere client, select the ESXi host from the inventory, and go to the Configuration tab. Select the Storage Adapters section, and make sure the SW iSCSI initiator is enabled. In the iSCSI initiator settings, set up the target IP address of the Terastation. It then should show the volume under dynamic targets.

In the Configuration tab, select the Storage section. Click the Add Storage link, and select the Terastation's target. This should be all you need to do.
