Buffalo Terastation III Rackmount 4TB model TS-RXL4.0TL/R5, Firmware version 1.10. I've read the instructions in nascfgsr.pdf.
NS-SHFT is able to connect to the unit and see its information. It shows me product, series, name, group, IP, subnet, MAC, firmware, and HDD used/capacity correctly.
When I click Save to backup its settings, it prompts me for the password (which I am quite sure that I'm entering correctly) and then gives me this output:
Start restoring the settings
nas_config file:
NAS1_20100108_103533.nas_configExamining NAS disc configuration...Failed
Save failed
If there is another way to backup the settings, I would be happy to do that instead, else I'd love a way to make this work.
You sure this works with Terastation III series?
So far, I've tested it on the Terastation Pro II & Terastation I series and it worked.
I'm getting errors trying to backup settings to TS-XL, not rackmount..
Anyway I'll be getting my TS-RX rackmount this afternoon, mayb I'll test it and let you know hw it goes.
I'm not sure it works with Terastation III series, but it did come preloaded on the Terastation III in \info\English\nascfgsr. Now that you mention it, I see it in the nascfgsr.pdf manual...the manual does say that it supports the TS-RXL series. It also says that it supports the TS-XL series that you're having trouble with.
So, in short, the answer is yes it does support the TS-RXL and TS-XL series.
Bump. Anybody have any ideas?
I tried to save the config on our 2 Terastation Duo 2TBs today for the first time and received the same error mesage.
NS-SHFT should work on the TS III series... it worked on my TS III FW 1.10. Make sure you get the latest version from the download page on www.buffalotech.com.
I own the TS-X"6.0T"TL/R5 Terastation III model with recently updated firmware version 1.30. I am using version 1.41 of the NS-SHFT software. I used the software from the CD, the Terastation and the version I downloaded.
I was receiving similar results to those mentioned above using the default firmware load, 1.2.
Upon following the recommendations of the forum, I updated to version 1.3 (latest as of 3/30/2010).
{
After loading firmware 1.3, I receive an error message "Failed to save configuration"
nas_config file:
TERA2_20100330_190839.nas_configExamining NAS disc
configuration...Failed
Save failed
}
Is anybody working on this problem?
Please post results here for everyone's benefit.
Thank you.
I recently updated to the latest firmware (1.30) and the problem has not improved.
I also downloaded what I assumed was the latest version of NS-SHFT from http://www.buffalotech.com but it doesn't work. It won't even detect the NAS, unlike the version that came pre-loaded on the NAS. Looking at version numbers, the download is NOT the latest. The one you can download is v 1.415, while the one that came preloaded on my NAS is 1.502.
Try the force firmware and reinit the unit after the update.
I abandoned the project for a while and came back to it today. There is a new firmware version 1.32. I installed the new firmware. I finally got it to work! :smileyhappy: I had to use the NS-SHFT version that was included with the unit, which is newer than what can be downloaded from Buffalo's website (why wouldn't they have the latest version on their site?).
I believe the combination of firmware version 1.32 and NS-SHFT 1.61 made it work.
I am also having this problem with NS-SHFT. Unable to back up settings on Terastation III. Tried NS-SHFT from downloads, which is ver# 1.41. Is there a version of NS-SHFT that will work with Terastation III? I need to update firmware, but don't want to risk it without backing up settings.
My Terastation III: TS-X2.0TX/R5
Serial: 95824791200037
Firmware version 1.10
Following up on my earlier posting.
I downloaded 2.00 CD Image for TeraStation™ III - TS-XL/R5 & TS-RXL/R5 from http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads.
This contained NS-SHFT 1.60 and it worked. Was able to back up settings.
Also downloaded ver 1.41 firmware for TeraStation™ III - TS-XL/R5 & TS-RXL/R5 from http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads and and successfully applied it.
