: NAs with port forwarding problem when losing Internet
: ilevendel May 29, 2019, 09:56:43 PM
I have two NAS systems in my private network. Both are set up with port forwarding (9000 and 9001) in the router of my private network. I can access both servers from within my private network and through Webaccess. However, when I lose access to Internet, I also lose access to both servers inside my private network. It is probably because I lose the DNS service for both servers when I lose Internet access. I noticed this after power outages in the area outside my building. I can easily reproduce this by unpluging the Internet connection. I have two questions:
1- Is there a way to set up the router so that the servers will automatically be identified within my private network?
2- If it is not feasibke now, should Buffalo develop a feature for reliable fall back to a provate network in case of outside Internet loss?

This is down to the way IP networks function, there isn't a way to add a function to the NAS that changes how networking works. You should still be able to access both units by going directly to the local IP address of the NAS, but if you are going through buffalonas.com that requires access to the internet.
