: HDD size limit for CS-X Cloudstation ?
: scottb721 March 19, 2019, 06:35:07 AM
One of my Two 1TB CS-X Cloudstations died. http://www.buffalo-asia.com/forhome/office_nas/cloud_station/cs-x-ap/

The HDD itself was fine but the controller seemed to have developed an issue preventing network access.
Got me thinking about maybe upping the size of the HDD in my remaining CS-X.

Any ideas on what the limit might be ?

Thank you

CS-X2.0TL Firmware 27-Mar-12 1.13
This firmware is not able to use 4096 byte per sector disks

the CS-XL uses the same hardware like the LS-XL

It is possible to change the ID and flash the firmware from the
LS-XL 5-Feb-18 1.74

This Firmware is able to use 16TB

After putting the HDD back in it and firing it up I notice the blue LED flashing constantly so maybe it's salvageable and needs a firmware reload  ????

My router can still see it and issues it an IP just fine however the unit's network name has defaulted back to original, as seen in the router, but it's not seen by Windows computers on the network.

Woo Hoo. FW updater got it back working again.
Now maybe time to experiment with the LS firmware.

Any guides on changing the ID to allow new FW ?

Thanks very much
