: LinkStation mini not working after firmware upgrade

I tried to install firmware 1.05. After the LS updater copied and extracted the files, the updater GUI said that the device will reboot. After waiting for the progress bar to finish, the updater failed, saying that it could not verify that the firmware has been upgraded. At this time I still could access my LS (ping & web managment). The info screen showed the old firmware version. However, few hours later, when I checked again my LS seems not to boot anymore. The blue LS logo is blinking and moving the button to off does not do anything.

 

Where can I see what the device is doing?

 

Is there a way to flash my LS mini without network access? (e.g. bootable USB or serial console)

   After several hours, the LED is now blinking red, 6 times.

Try to power cycle the device.  When the unit is booting back up hold down the reset button.  This will force the unit into an emergency mode that should allow the firmware to update.  Also make sure all of your firewall and antivirus software is disabled.

I assume the reset button is the function button on my mini. However, it seems not to work. Pressing function before powering up make the blue led (the one close to the function button) blink fast. If I press after powering up, the same happens as before.

After a couple of minutes of fast blue blinking, the LS mini behaves the same as before -> LinkStation logo blinking for several hours.
