: Forget admin pwd LS-X1.0TL. LSRecovery.zip from other similar topic didn't work.
: PolarPanda September 07, 2018, 02:28:10 AM
I didn't use my LS-X1.0TL-AP for so long. Few days ago I tried to log in to configure IP address and default gateway and it asked for admin password.

I contacted Buffalo call center in Thailand they said the only way to reset the device is via WEB UI and password is required. I searched for similar topics in Buffalo forum http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?dtopic=18684.msg74450#msg74450 (http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?dtopic=18684.msg74450#msg74450) and downloaded LSRecovery.zip which able to solve the problem for several people.

However, it didn't work for my case probably because it is different model or something.
Is there another LSRecovery.zip specifically for LS-X1.0TL? Or is there another way to reset password?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There is no reason why the LSrecovery file shouldn't be working, what error do you get?

Hi oxygen8. Thanks for your response. Will give it a try soon.

Hi davo,
The error said "Recovering failed. NAS Password Recovery Tool cannot recover selected NAS, please contact to customer service."

I've got NAS connection failure. My guess is I've changed the ISP lately but NAS's current IP address and default gateway settings belong to the ISP I used many years ago. That's why I was trying to configure IP address settings.
If there's anything I've done wrong on LSrecovery, please kindly advise. Thanks

Connect the Linkstation directly to the PC, set a static IP on the PC to match whatever IP range the Linkstation is currently on, disable the windows firewall and any anti virus and then rerun the recovery.

Thank you! It works now.

Seems like password was automatically restored when a static IP on PC matched IP range on the LinkStation, thanks to your advice.

- connect device directly to PC
- set a static IP on the PC to match IP range on the Linkstation
- refresh the device on Nas Navigator. The Linkstation and PC is successfully connected.
- open the Web UI, admin username and password is prompted. Not certain whether it is admin default password or not.
I leave it as it is and hit log in button right away
- disable DHCP to modify invalid IP to match IP range of current ISP then save
- on Linkstation Web UI, enable DHCP and save
- on PC, enable DHCP
- connect the Linkstation to router

Many many thanks to you all.
