: Old terastation quad won't connect to Web Access
: silky28 January 24, 2018, 02:00:49 AM
Hello all,I was given and old terastation quad and figured I would get it up and running. I've been able to get it to show up in NAS Navigator, on the wired network, but I cannot get it to connect to Web Access. The Web Access program itself fails to detect the NAS and if I go to buffalonas.com it asks for a user and password which it won't accept.

Any ideas on what is gooing on? I also have a problem where by when I try to run firmware update it too says there are no devices in need of upgrade...even though the NAS is on 12.2 or so

OK, so, a couple of questions. First, what is the model number of the TeraStation?

Second, have you gone through the WebAccess setup? You have to create the system account on buffalonas.com which can be done through the TeraStation UI.

Hello and thanks for the reply.

I managed to get Webaccess working. There was an issue with the user accounts but once I figured it out everything went smoothly...until we had a power outage the next day which apparently wiped out all of the Webaccess settings in the NAS. I was able to reset everything by remoting into my desktops since I am out of the country.

But I am still have a problem getting the Webaccess program/app to find the NAS. Neither my android phone or Windows desktops find it. On the Desktops it says "cannot communicate with your nas" and the app says "no file found." On the desktops and the Android I can access Webaccess through the internet.

I am also unable to get the firmware to update. The model number of the NAS is LS-QV4.0TL/R5. I've downloaded what is reported to be the correct firmware for the device but when I run the installer it says "ls-qv4.0tl/R5 that needs updating wasn't found". NasNavigator says that firmware 1.11 is installed.

Thanks again!

I'm having a problem understanding the issue:

But I am still have a problem getting the Webaccess program/app to find the NAS. Neither my android phone or Windows desktops find it. On the Desktops it says "cannot communicate with your nas" and the app says "no file found." On the desktops and the Android I can access Webaccess through the internet.

This sentence seems to suggest that it is both working and not working.

As far as the firmware update, if NAS Navigator can see it then the update should be able to see it. Double check the model number.

Webaccess itself works but only through the web browser. I can access the NAS via Buffalonas.com (or by entering the IP + port in the browser's address bar). The problem is that is the only way I can access it...the desktop and Android applications called WebAccess do not find the NAS.

The model number is correct. It is a Linkstation Quad LS-QV4.0tl/R5. It is a 4 drive, 4tb system. Could you please tell me what the latest firmware release is and where I might be able to find previous versions of the firmwares.

Thanks!!!

Here is download page (US) for the LS-QV: http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads/linkstation-pro-quad (http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads/linkstation-pro-quad)

I'm not aware of a desktop webaccess application.

If you're able to access the unit remotely with a web browser then the Android app should work, it uses the same protocols. Just make sure the buffalonas.com name and URL are correct in the settings.

Ya, there is a desktop app made by Buffalo but it doesn't connect. I've tried that firmware you linked and one for quad (non pro) but neither work; both say Nas in need of update wasn't found.

As for the Android app, I've entered everything correctly but no luck
