I have a Buffalo USB back-up drive that I back my NAS with.
It was doing a back-up last night, and I got about 50 of these errors each with different sector and count but the same error:
DISK Error Notification
HDD error occurred
Disk(s) the error occurred:"USB Disk 1"
(sdc) WRITE sector:506748088 count:19
Disk writing error
Some data may not be recoverable.
Immediate change of disk is recommended.
What should I do? I have a 2 TB USB back-up, don't have the model number handy.

Anyone that can help? Can I reformat or something?
-
You can try reformatting on a PC, but it sounds like that drive may be dying.
-
Well that would stink as it is a back-up drive. Can I reformat through the web interface as it is on my network attached to my Buffalo NAS.
-
Yes, you should be able to.

Okay, so I can do that and is there something special I need to do to set it up so it backs up my NAS? I think I had to do something special when I bought it but I do not recall. I have it set to back-up the NAS every 2 weeks.

As long as the backup job still exists it should be fine. If the job got deleted you may need to create a new backup job.

Okay, I'll give it a try.
