You can go to http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=8154.60 and there is a active link that can remove the password but there's a chance you can erase your data. Buffalo Support doesn't recommend this or even mention this because of this other reasons.

What is your model of your unit aotero? also have you tired another pc? firewall off? antivirus off?... safe mode?

Found your model. LS-WXL, ok so you can try putting the unit in to EM mode since you have a function button.

1. Make sure that your NAS is powered off
2. Hold down the FUNC/FUNCTION button for at least 6 seconds before powering the NAS on (LS-WXL have theirs on the back)
3. While continuing to hold down the FUNC/FUNCTION button power the NAS on.
4. The FUNCTION button will start blinking at which point you release the button and hold it down for an additional 10 seconds or until the FUNCTION button goes solid. At this point you may release the FUNCTION button

note: i know this works as i have done it but you might have to press the function button if it doesn't go solid after the 10 seconds. You would let and repress it. if not try again but instead of pressing it again hold it again. for example.

hold for 10sec then let go and press once.

or

hold for 10 secs then let go and rehold for 10 secs.

just need to get light solid. sometimes it will go in to Em mode and not go solid. use Nas Navigator to see whether it goes in to em mode or not.

Can anyone please provide me with the lsrecovery file? I have a ls-ch1.0tl that lost power and went in EM mode. I downloaded new firmware but now my password & the default no longer works. I would really appreciate any assistance...

3-11-2015: This link is still active worked to resolve the admin login problem after firmware update.  Also, after I was able to login to Web portal for the device, the time zone had been set to Japan.  Changing the time setting resolved the access to the share folder.

Like everyone else here, I am not able to get my LS-CH1.0TL to work. I need to reset the admin password. I've done the turning off and holding the function button down, then pressing it, the Buffalo method. But it changes nothing.  I see lots of other places are mentioned here, but none work now.
Can someone please let me have an up to date link where I can finally get to use this expensive, yet so far useless device?
As another question, why are these links time-related?

First i know you didn't check the links I posted as they have been up since I posted them and are still up, Please check them again before asking for a file that is already there for download. Second, reason from time links is because the software can be very dangerous to a business units or regular units, Merely using this tool can reset the unit to gain access if done right. I just know that after sharing the file with so many people, one of them has probably uploaded and shared it else where so end the end time links went really a good practice for me.

Well, I must firstly, thank you. The file I had to get has got it working.  My reservation on seeing the website the link gave me was that I am no expert and am wary of downloading something which may prove disastrous. On seeing your reply I decided to go for it. I now have my linkstation working for the first time in three years.
I take your point about time-related links, being no exp[ert I can only guess what havoc might ensue from careless use. My apologies for sounding rather cross, but I have been on the phone to Buffalo several times, who blamed AVG, AVG spent some time time trying to se why this happened. I was about to buy another storage device, but they all have someone who got into a mess setting one up. You have saved me this trouble.

No problem, Support won't give out that link and at times to be honest I feel like there T1 needs helps though is you use multiple computers or examples you can always make them withdraw there theory

Thanks so much for the effort in uploading the file. It's really hard to look for a working link, but the rapidshare one worked.

But I have a problem, it seems the device can still detect that my files are still in it, but when you go to the web and local folder, it shows no folders/files.

How can I make it re appear?

Thanks in advance.
