FROM NOW ON I´LL POST UPDATES IN MY MY LAST POST :)
Hi again,
a short overview regarding the problems:
in the forums Paul mentioned several times that a firmware update is on its way - first it was early december then it got delayed to mid december.....
we now have end december january and there is still no firmware update and the problems mentioned in the forumsstill persist!
also there is no information which issues are resolved and which are going to be ignored for the time being.
some more details would be appriciated!
well, there is still no changelog available -_-
nothing mentioned if private trackers will ever be supported.....
regards,
SilverFoX
PS:
Model: 1TB LS-CH1.0TL (-EU)
Firmware: 1.06 (same probs with firmware 1.01 & 1.02)
and even if the following is not needed:
OS:
Browser: Mozilla Firefox 3.0.6 AND Internet Explorer 7 (x86 and x64) AND Internet Explorer 8 (x86 and x64.
Linkstation: Flashed the firmware about 15 times now (different versions!)
Reseted it several times.
I will try to get an update on the release date and post it.
Hi Paul!
Right now I just want to be able to upload to private trackers, so I'd be happy with an update solving the problem mentioned earlier in the thread. But that would just be a step on the way towards becoming a usefull torrentclient, it's still missing simple functions like individual settings (per torrent) regarding up/download speedlimitations and the possibillity to prioritate some parts of a torrent which is basic settings. If that's to much to ask for - tell me - and I will return the device for a refund.
Otherwise I'm very satisfied with the LS-CHL. Accessing the disk through buffalonas.com is an excellent feature!
Thank you for keeping us updated about the update Paul!
Thanks for starting the thread Silverfox.
Paul wrote:I will try to get an update on the release date and post it.
Hi Paul,
if there is still no release date known could you then please let us know what fixes are to be expected in the firmware update?
some details regarding the mentioned problems would be nice :)
regards and happy new year,
SilverFoX
Hi i also have the problems with the Bittorrent download.
I have a fix for it, in webadmin just delete the share where you have set bittorrent to download to, this deletes i all.
Is it possible to make a addition to the NasNavigator software, or maybe another program, that lets me add torrent files to the linkstation without i need to go to the bittorrent manager each time.
I could work like this.
Click on the Torrent file on the net, select open with the program made for the Linkstation, and then the program would either silently add the torrent to the linkstation.
To setup the program i would have a setup, where you can specify wich IP and port number i should connect to.
I should be rather simple to make.
Hi, there is another issue with the BT client that is not been mentioned in the list: when it completes a download it stops seeding that file, even if it's set to keep torrents in seed utill removed.
I noticed that the file has the green arrow icon (like it is seeding), but the upload is 0 KB/s. The upload is running utill the file is complete, but when it reachs 100% the upload dies.
This problem affects every torrent I tried from different trackers.
This issue is very harmful with your share ratio.
thanks for the hint Topolaccio - added it the first post :)
btw - the trick using webaccess to delete folders in the bittorrent folder doesn´t always work - i had some folders which couldn´t be deleted....and as said earlier - that´s not how it is supposed to work!
Hi
Just wAnted to knw if anyone has got a soloution yet on the permissions problem on bittorrent files. I am still unable to copy files from my bittorrent folder to a secondary share, anyone with any ideas..
Regards
V
You can copy, but you can't move the files.
Often you can even empty the directory, but not remove the directory itself.

Hello !!!
Erasing is very slow - get ride off torrent folders my way ... :)
LS-CHL F/W 1.02 with Samsung HD103UI 1Tb
HDD Space Used Disk 1 366.95 GB / 923.76 GB (39.72 %)
Erasing disk
Task 1 / 4 (Zero fill)
Progress 628.86 GB / 992.01 GB (63.39 %)
Eclipsing 388.5 Minute (15.6 MB/s)
I think in start it was about 980 minutes ...
zzomm... still erasing ...
updated first post!
zzomm:
erasing takes it time - but thats kind of normal....it´s the same with HDDs which are connected directly per S-ATA or ATA in your PC....
if you just want all files deleted format it....
i had to recover my Linkstation after trying to erase it - had to use tftp and a lot of luck with the function button....that darn thing just didn´t want to boot in EM mode and my only solution after 2 days of try and error was to be quick enough to switch language back to english (was japanese or chinese) and after another boot up to just format it not regarding it was still erasing -_- *still makes me sick!*

If you stop and then restart the bittorrent service it will begin uploading again. Ufortunately, your ratio will be displayed as being back to 0.00 again, and you will have to re-setup the ports/upload limits etc
thx for the info - didn´t try that one - just stopped and restarted the affected torent files after some minutes....funny thing is - sometimes it works without a flaw without restarting ~.~

Cheers!
still no new info about the firmware update status or is the delay of the delay delayed?! -.-

Ther is a new firmware in US site...LS-CHL_FW106-064.zip
zzomm
Yes, I saw that in the US support page there is a new firmware, version 1.06.064, dated 2009-01-09. I saw that there is even a new version (2.11) for the NasNavi2 software, dated 2008-10-24.
But I am Italian (and I bought the LS-CHL here in Italy) and in the Italian support page there is only the 1.02 firmware, dated 2008-11-20, and nothing about the NasNavi2 software.
What can I to do?
i´m from germany and if i understood Pauls previous replies in other trheads correctly it´ll void my warranty if i use a firmware other than the german one....
at least there is some progress even if it is still not noted here -.-
perhaps the european versions will pop up the next days.....
regards,
SilverFoX
Hi
I will try and put the new US firmware on my EU LS-CHL, and se if there is any changes.
Best regards
Morten
I have just put the new US firmware on my EU Livestation, and i seems a lot better, and faster in the web gui.
Just one warning, connect with 1 pc directly to the Linkstation using a crossed cable, i tried over my normal 1000GBps network, and the flashing seemed to be frozen a couple of time, but i finished at last, i took about 2 or 3 times longer than the other updates.
I tried again, just using a crossed cable, and i worked like a charm.
If you want i can upload a picture of the new Web GUI?
UPDATE:
The Bittorrent client i just a bugged as on the 1,01 firmware.
The "new" webgui http://peecee.dk/upload/view/149029/full
And the web Gui didnt seem at all faster, after a shutdown of the Linkstation, but i where super fast before i did a shutdown.
Anything else you wanna know about the new Firmware?
Best Regards
Morten
thanks for your feedback, zeecue :)
what do you mean exactly by buggy Bittorrent client?
still no private trackers?
still protected folders?
regards,
SilverFoX
The protected folder issues seems to be solved. Altough deleting many large files sometimes is very slow...
No private tracker support still.
Did the update over my 1GB router and it worked like a charm, even if it took a long time.
/J
Can an admin tell us when the european firmware will be avaiable?
Thanks.
Still no private tracker support?
Unacceptable, really. I was under the impression that this firmware update was going to significantly improve the bit torrent functionality. I only use bit torrent with private trackers.
No individual torrent settings, no file priority, I can live with. But no private tracker support handicaps the functionality of a product marketed to serious bit torrent users.
*Sigh*
I flashed it using the US firmware and it was fine. (Live in Sweden)
/J
No, still no support for private trackers, still proctected Bittorrent folder.
And no new functions AT ALL.
i´ll wait for the european version....
even no changelog is available to date -.-
Jocke72 said it is possible to delete the folders - joping he didn´t mean the files inside ^^
regards,
SilverFoX
Nope, for me it works as it should. Meaning that you can delete both folders and files even under the Bittorrent folder now.
/J
Jocke72 wrote:Nope, for me it works as it should. Meaning that you can delete both folders and files even under the Bittorrent folder now.

thanks for the feedback - hm....perhaps i should try it after all....ithink of updating later....have to get to work now -.-

I have at this point sent about 5 tickets to Buffalo support, each one have been ignored, except for the one reply that refered me to go to the KB section of Buffalotech sites... early december.. yeah right! I have since sent them questions asking about the European firmware.. silence is the word.
Has anyone else noticed any lagging in the mediaserver feature of the device.
Everytime I start playback of a movie on either my ps3 or the computer from the mediaserver the picture will start lagging after about 10 minutes of playback. It only takes a couple of seconds for it to recpoup but then after another 10 minutes it occurs again.. this goes on for the whole movie/episode. I've tried to kill off all other network equipment without any effect to the plaback.
Also another feature I'd wish to add to the torrent client would be remote adding of torrents to the queue, for example from my friends house or from work. To my knowledge this is only available through local network.
Qnap Nas devices have this feature built-in... as should buffalos also!! (take a hint admin!!)
Then for another feature that needs work, the power save mode. If I wish to leave the torrent loading for the night I have to leave my computer running too, cause if I shut it down the Nas will shutdown also. There should thus be an option to shutdown the Nas only if there is no activity.. or shutdown when all torrents are ready..
At this point (having the device for 2 months) I must say I'm mostly dissatisfied with my purchase. The support for the device has been non-existant, the fan is noisier than promised, media playback is laggy, network transfers for small as well as large items is slow (even with GB-lan), torrent client is still in beta testing, the fs doesn't support large files (over 30GB) and did I mention the support was non-existant?!? (another one, admin!!)
If these issues are fixed with the next FW I will consider keeping the device ;)

Adding a Torrent from outside the LAN is already possible and very easy. I usually upload torrents form my office and when I came home they're already finished.
To enable remote control you have to open the port 8080 of your router and forward it to your LinkStation IP (use the IP reservation feature of you router).
Then you have to log to your LinkStation via WebAccess and connect to the port 8080 (you just have to type in your browser address bar http://xxx.xx.xx.xx:8080 where xxx.xx.xx.xx is the IP of your router).
andyblake wrote:
As i'm sure you are aware if you do that anyone on the internet can delete/stop/start any of your torrents - I'd enable ssh and ssh tunnel the ports for 80,8080 and 9000 through - it's more secure.
I thought that I was password protected, like the WebAccess login. But now I discovered that accessing to http://xxx.xx.xx.xx:9000 is password protected, while http://xxx.xx.xx.xx:8080 is totally free! So if someone knows my router IP (that is fortunately dynamic), he can freely control my BT client!
I know I can enable the IP restriction politics on my router, allowing access to the port 8080 only from a single IP or from a specified IP range. For example I can allow incoming connection to the port 8080 only from my office static IP address. That could be a temporary solution.
However I think that the SSH tunnelling is the best solution, as you said. The problem is that I've never done things like that and I don't even know how to start! I've done reserch in Google and Wikipedia but I'm more confused then before... Can you help me some way?
Thank you very much.
I'm using the newest firmware for OS X and am still having file permission issues. How am I mean to delete folders without using web access - a very time consuming process? I've connected via FTP and tried that way to no avail.
This is becoming increasingly frustrating as I use more and more space.
The Bittorent 'seed until' settings always seem to reset themselves as well.

hi there,
the prob is that the mac version hasn´t been updated until now - ridiculous that there is still no changelog, european verion etc btw .......
only the north american windows version has been updated and works at least with the permission issue....

Paul wrote:I will try to get an update on the release date and post it.
just went thropugh the thread again....thx for not posting trhe update -.-''
pls don´t promise things which you won´t do.....
any update about the private tracker fix and the release date of the european firmware and could you really post in here this time?
regards,
SilverFoX
I've installed the 1.06 firmware, which was avaiable last Saturday.
I can confrim that the write protection issue has been fixed. It seems that even the torrents stop seeding issue has been fixed.
There's still no support for private trackers, but I don't know if this is a BT client limitation, or if it's because the tracker accepts connection only by a limited number of clients (like uTorrent, Trasmission, but NON the LinkStation BT client).
The firmware on the linkstation doesn't care what OS is accessing it.
I use a mixed environment of MAC, Win and Linux to access the drive and it works fine with the latest release.

hi,
any news of 1.06 firmware improvments ?
any modifications on this really good list ?

hi there,
at least the european firmware 1.06 is available....still without changelog!!!
as stated before it is possible to delete files and folders in the "root" bittorrent directory....
still no private tracker support
can´t test timemachine as i only have a MiniMac with MAC OS X 10.4.11 BUT there is still no firmware update for MAC users -.-
i´ll update the first post now ^^
regards,
SilverFoX
read in another thread that password protection for the bittorrent page could be on it´s way to the linkstation live with bittorrent....at least the info of the security flaw is passed to the "office" of buffalo ^^

where did you find this US fw installer ?
Did you do that from a PC or a Mac ?
MacAzur wrote:where did you find this US fw installer ?

found it at www.buffalotech.com and european (german) region -> support -> downloads -> "NAS model"
Did it from my Windows machine because there is still no MAC version .............
With 1.06 the permission problem has been solved.
However port settings are still lost once you switch off or restart, and there is no support for private trackers.
It would also be nice to add BitTorrent protocol encryption.
Thanks for your answer and for your activity on this forum.
I'm really very disappointed by the poor support available for these products (I bought the LS-CHL because they were advertising its Mac compatibility).
The Time Machine function is particularly poorly documented.
The bit torrent is only a beta (a feature as simple as keeping the settings does not work) and the mac version of the rare firmware updates is released several weeks after the windows one.
Of course I will not recommand this product anymore for the next 6 months, until the present customer beta test period is over
I think you forgot the price of your Linkstation compared to TimeCapsule and the possibilities that it can offer to you.
I don't say that the lower price is an excuse for everything, but you could be more patient about the minor problems with Mac. There isn't lot of NAS that supports natively Mac, TimeCapsule and iPhone.
The TimeMachine doesn't need a big documentation.. With the last firmware (it's a shame that we can only install it under Windows) and this forum you should be able to configure it easily.
I think/hope that it will be better and more easily to use for all of us soonly. :)
When you say the permissions problem has been solved with fw 1.06 what do you mean?
I still cannot delete folders in my bittorrent folder.
Hi SilverFoX,
I'd also like to bring up some of the bugs I've found in 1.06.
1. On the home screen, "HDD Space Used" is not populated.
2. Shared Folders Setup-> Add, Volume drop down is empty.
3. Shared Folders, Unable to check Folders created without a volume populated (therefore cannot delete)
4. Shared Folders, Renaming the share that is used by the bittorrent client forces the recreation of the share but with a description of "recovered" (expected behaviour? I would have thought renames should affect the bittorrent prefs)
5. Torrent client, no ability to select "do not download" on particular files. Must always download entire torrent.
6. Maintenance->Power Management, usage window seems to have no affect whatsoever. NAS doesn't turn on or off at the given times.
7. Direct Copy-> No ability to modify the extensions that are copied.
8. Disk Management->USB settings. Cannot share a USB disk connected to the NAS.
9. Network speed, why is that I can't only manage 12.5Mbps sustained transfer rates to the NAS when directly connected and negotiating at gigabit? I get 24Mbps to my 2.5" USB Disk.
I personally am not very happy with this device. I could have bought a 1TB with USB interface for half the price and doubled my transfer rates not to mention avoided all these bugs!
I hope the peoply at Buffalo get their act together soon and fix up the numerous issues with this device.
Kind regards,
Joshua
9. A NAS will "always" be slower then a external hdd. The data has to go thru the CPU, which often is quite slow, on a NAS. If I remember correctly I get around 18Mbps, but I will check this the next time I get the chance.

the thing which makes me wonder is that most other threads caught the attention of some mods - but this is just left out.....only Paul posted one message with a promise he didn´t keep......why is that???

still no official comment on these matters?
could anybody of the support members/mods please provide information about chances of fixing these things or if they are passed to your so-called "office"?

PS: updated previous post
I was able to delete files on my LS-CHL after firmware update to 1.06. It didn't seem to take effect immediately for some reason which threw me off. But I tried again later and was able to delete files/folder in my bittorrent directory.
Yay!
bump again!
last chance to post any information about the current state regarding the firmware update....

Chaps,
Just bought this Linkstation and on the whole it does all I need. Just got one issue, after a torrent has been added and then finished downloading I don't see the file in the media server selected folder. In my case /share/bittorrent, until I reboot the device. I am running the new firmware 1.06.
I could set power options to restart in the middle of the night, but would much prefer them to just appear. Is it me just not waiting long enough? Or something I'm doing wrong?
Hi, I've read through this forum to try and find a similar problem to the one I have!
I have a LS-CH 500gb drive, which at first had the 1.01FW on it.
I couldn't delete or move files from the bit torrent folder but bit torrent worked fine. No need to change default settings or anything...
After reading on here that I needed to update the FW on the drive, I did so and it worked giving me access to the Bit torrent folder... but, now the bit torrent client does not work!
I load up a torrent file from my computer and then nothing happens. I've tried to change the port forwarding and done the same on my router, but nothing.
Can anyone help?
Don't break this thread with unrelated problems, start a new thread instead.

no rights to delete or cut downloaded torrent files - if the files are located in a subfolder only the files are deletable or movable (the folder/files located directly in the "bittorrent" directory are write-protected)- no security regarding the webaccess of the bittorrent download page - everybody is able to delete ongoing torrents if there is a remote access configured
- no individual torrent options regarding seed/download speed etc (thanks to "simonklinga" for reminding me)
- And is there a way to make the bittorrent download manager secure, by adding a code? (thanks to "zeecue" )
Problem with seeding finished downloads - the client stops the upload even if set to seed/upload until removed in the options (thanks to "Topolaccio" )some folders located in the bittorrent folder can´t be deleted even with the webaccess workaround- buggy drive erease (sometimes the drive has to be brought back to life with tftp because it´ll never completly boot up again - slow erease is some kind of normal cos it irreversely deletes all data on the linkstation or at least should do it)
- sometimes the configuration of webaccess ignores the port and still uses port 9000
- checkboxes to select more than just a single file or folder with webaccess (to download or delete etc)
- after or while disk erase allow at least a change of the language of the unit (mine was japanese or chinese all of sudden)
- a folder to put torrent files which is polled by the bittorrent client (no need to enter every torrent files located on the HDD or psate the link) O/AND a windows/linux/mac addon/application which links torrent filesdirectly with the Linkstation torrent client
- no logout option when exiting webaccess - which i would need...

Hi SilverFoX,
i still have no idea how do delete and cut downloaded torrents. i've installed 1.06 germany version already, but no right to do it. please tell me how.
thanks
Thanks for posting that list SilverFoX.
For me, the four bigs ones are:
1. Security - everybody is able to delete ongoing torrents if there is a remote access configured
2. Being able to select individual files from within a torrent
3. The ablity to select multiple torrents to upload and erase.
4. the settings not being saved correctly. Seemingly arbirary things erase the specified settings.

hi gluck111,
make sure the firmware update finished completely, after that reboot the unit.
after rebooting configure bittorrent again (enable function and folder)
try again to delete or cut files/folders - everything should work now :)

Hi Silverfox,
Thanks, but it's still not work.
after follow your instruction completely, i still cant remove it with the word "make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is currently not in used"
For FW 1.06 german version, i've tried to re-install it but "LS-CHL that needs updating wasn't found".
i'll try it again again tonight and let you know the outcome.
my one model LS-CHL 500GB, with LS-CHL F/W 1.06. i bought it from dealer in Bangkok, Thailand. i use OS XP via the LAN cable and wireless through the router, D-Link, to command the stroage.
if you need more information, please let me know.
Thanks

Hi, can someone report a REAL canghelog for the new F/W (ver. 1.07)?
On the download page the only information avaiable is "fixes mount problems of the HDD, full release note included". But inside the package there is not any changelog.
Here is the changelog that I have for 1.07:
-Solve undetecting unit problem after reboot when disk partition is removed.
-Solve automatic IP address problem for non DHCP server environment of version 1.06
-Solve media sever update problem.
-Function switch does not work problem during stand-by.
-Solve Web Access access restriction does not work problem under some shared folder name condition.
I may be going out on limb here: But the only difference in the firmware upgrade should be that the software used to install the new bios is for mac, the bios is the same since the hardware being upgraded is the same.
By this you should be able to use a PC to upgrade your Linkstation. If no PC is available try Darwine or VMWare Fusion...
/J
Thanks for your comments Jocke. I've tried both - putting the 1.06 files in the 1.02 installer - it just quits. Running XP in VMWare, it finds the drive but seems to be unable to update it.
:(
Since it's too quiet over in yonder iphone thread, thought I'd post my suggestions.
Every time the bittorrent client restarts it has to rescan the torrents in the Q to figure out which pieces it has already downloaded.
On a 60Gb torrent, it takes over an hour to 'verify' the torrent, & that's with a torrent completion of <10%
I fully expect this to get longer as the torrent gets closer to completion.
I wouldn't care, but it holds up all other torrents until it has verified. Not to mention the resource tax on the LS-CHLs CPU, Disk & Network speeds whilst it verifies.
My first suggestion would be to hold off on the verification process on torrents until that particular torrent has been manually started, THEN verify.
That would only solve the problem for all other torrents though, if I wanted to start the large torrent I would still have to wait until it is verified.
So, my second suggestion would be to be able to selectively download files within a torrent, to allow large downloads to be selectively downloaded, so I could say, select 3 files at 1 gb each, download them, copy & delete the completed files, start the torrent again, choosing the next set of 3 files.
Also, is there any point in asking for feature updates? Given it seems to have some sort of 'official' bittorrent certification judging by the bittorrent logo. I guess what I'm asking is: Is it a client provided by Bittorrent with a Buffalo badge, or a set of specs that Buffalo adhere to?
Either way, what are the implications for feature requests rather than just bugfixes? Likely, not likely or don't know?
Only reason I ask is that I've been looking at the Popcorn Hour A110 as a like for like replacement for the LS-CHL, I can ignore the lack of gigabit ethernet in exchange for some much needed stability.
Hi there, I've noticed that after the 1.07 upgrade, the USBdisk port is no longer accessible; whenever i switch the connected drive on, the linkstation hangs completely. I've already done a forced re-flash of 1.07 with no improvements. Ayone else experienced this issue?
Thanks
and even worse, we have been waiting for months for a Mac version of the 1.07 installer, which should take only 30 minutes to finalize for a developer, while the linkstation is advertized as Mac oriented.
Thi is a rip off !!
Agreed, this is taking a long time. Bought this product because of Bittorrent client. To find this doesn't work as advertised and is easily accessed from outside the local network is completely ridiculous.
All we ask for is to be kept in the loop.

Hi everybody, reverting to FW 1.06 (ticking all the debug mode options) broughtback to life mi ls-chl's USB port. Bittorrent random loss of parameters remains unsolved though.
avatar976, I wanted to check on one thing with your experience. After updating to firmware 1.07, did try resetting it to defaults from Maintenance->Initialization, Restore?
Hello,
I'm having the same problem with USB sticks (FAT32), the USB port and Direct Copy:
When I push the "function"-Button on my LinkStation it starts to copy *a bunch of* files, but then the LinkStation to flashes red+blue on top, (the BitTorrent Client loses all settings). Sticks (tried 2 so far) are recognized in admin menu though.
Model: LS-CH1.0TL-EU (European version of LinkStation)
Bought it this week, came with firmware 1.07.
Target folder for Direct Copy is set.
avatar976, read your solution (downgrading the LinkStation to firmware 1.06).
Do you have the European version of the LinkStation aswell?
>>> Where did you get the 1.06 firmware?
>>> Is it the US/JP firmware?
>>> Are users with a US or JP LinkStation/firmware experiencing the same?
Or can someone else help?
Do I possibly sound desperate with some many questions? :smileyhappy:
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
BTW: Transfer rate is slow. FTP-Upload with about 2.1 MB/s.
In the user guide that came with the CD for the LS-CHL, it is mentioned that there should be a flash based audio player in the web access UI. More specificly, when clicking on a audio file or folder (don't remeber excactly) there should be a link called "Audio" in left bottom corner of the page in browser. Pressing this link should open a flash based audio player...
This flash player is however missing (I am using newest 1.07 FW). I can only use the "preview audio" for playing a song, but it can be used ony to play songs one by one. An audio player where you could make e.g. a playlist is missing which is very annoying. This product is marketed as a "listen to your music anywhere without any extra SW installed" type of thing, but then there is only a preview option available??
The question follows: Is there a misstake done in the user guide, is the player delivered only with some other product than LS-CHL, and a copy/paste misstake has been made or why is the promised functionalty not available? I could really have use for this feature.
I just got the 1TB version of the Linkstation Live with BT running FW 1.07
and everytime I shut down the box and restart it forgets to ask the specified NTP server (whether default *.jp or other) for the correct time .....
Have to manually go into config page and "Apply" settings for the NTP function to
resume correctly.
my feature suggestion (for LS live but also all other storage ;-))
http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=9908
@GMCinema: Mine does that too. It's extremely annoying, and it means the product is unusable if there's no admin around to log in and reset the time.
[Edit: add @GMCinema]
There is a fix.. (but only for japan people) as for them there is 1.10 firmware already..
released 12.5.2009
[Application]
Title = BUFFALO LS-CHL Updater Ver.1.10
WaitReboot = 480
WaitFormat = 500
[Target]
ProductID = 0x00000012
Name = LS-CHL
[Flags]
VersionCheck = 1
Could buffalo speed up translation .. as we are already 3 release versions behind!?
Its very annoying as lot of thing are not working as they should...
When will be the new firmware on download page. On japanese web page is already 1.10 version of firmware. On all other download pages is still the old 1.07 firmware. I do not understand what is the problem not to translate the japanase FW to english and to other languages.
I hear your pain! I bought a Buffalo Quad linkstaion 4TB for use with my PS3.
Here are the issues I am getting
1. Video lag as you describe. Video just freezes for 10 seconds and then tries to catch up
2. Time Capsule just not working. Have tried all info on net/forums etc. Buffalo tech support useless. Very dissapointed by their lack of help and basic non-existent knowledge of their products.
3. Severe issues trying to get bit torrent working............
So, I am really thinking of using the hard drives in this system with a QNAP 409. Unless, someone at Buffalo can really get their act together and provide some real support and working software with detailed documentation?
Yes, Buffalo, this is a cry for help! Do you care?
G3RO and others who are waiting on the 1.10 FW for the LS-CHL,
Once it's been published in Japan, we have to receive in the individual regions where we operate at which points we test and debug, make changes as neccesary, and then put it on our website. It will be up as soon as we have achieved this. If your concern is about any region other than US/Canada, you would need to contact that region's support for further info, as we can only speak for our region.
Prince BBB,
1. Can you please give details here, if you're asking for help you're providing no details.
2. Again, please actually describe what you have tried and your general setup.
3. Can you be specific about what issues you are having with bit torrent? There are a few parts of that built in service that don't work properly in some situations, although generally speaking you should be able to download files onto it using it. You may experience troubling seeding etc.
If you want real immediate support you simply have to call us, as far as detailed documentation goes, what specifically are you looking for? The manual is 96 pages long and covers all prescribed uses for the product in adequate detail.
Buffalo is fixing or better not fixing major issues with his products! That's really sad.
Printserver implementation needs to be improved as wont work for most of drivers which requires 2 way communication with printer (status of supplies ....)
Bittorent not keeping the settings.. (but product is advertised to support it)
Idiotic powermanagment solutions...
Very, very slow performance using small files...
DNLA version implementation of 1.0 :) We live in 2009 now?! ... So streaming over wireless networks is hardly impossible.. Lots of audio skipping...
And than over a 2 month with not only on fix or update or improvment.. And if there is any (fix which was released ony to privileged Japan people) than we should wait for a month or maybe two to get translated version? As there are more than 5 new words in a code.. COME ON!!!
Man should consider never to buy buffalo product again!
Model: LS-CH1.0TL-EU (European version of LinkStation) F/W:1.02 - Because us Mac users are worth it!
Mac OSX 10.5.7
Been lurking on this forum since purchase four months ago wondering why Buffalo make such a big deal out of supporting Apple products, when you clearly don't.
The Mods are asking for patience from those requesting information in the newly released 1.10 f/w upgrade whilst Mac users are begging, and have been for at least 4 months, for 1.06.
With no updates on your website and nothing in this thread can you please, respectfully, point me in the direction of somewhere I can get any information that will resolve Mac users issues?
I too have been waiting for the new firmware update, and now I see that the Japan region has gone from 1.10 to 1.20 as of today (although I'd be quite happy with just 1.10).

Hi,
I bought a Linkstation LS-C*L last friday (24/7/2009), I Had read these forums, and noticed all the problems that were apparent with the bit torrent client, so when i saw that it had shipped with FW 1.10, i thought yes!, not so, there have been hardly any fixes at all. The settings are still lost if the device is rebooted, restarted, or loses network connection, and you still cannot select individual files to download. have not had a chance to test anything else, but these features that i would like to use, do not work properly.
I hope they will be fixed in later firmware releases
Regard,
Ali
Hi there,
I've purchased a LS-CHLv2 in 1.10 firmware, tried to download some large torrent with the bittorrent client, and it crashes the nas, so couldn't acces to admin web (login prompt don't show)....
I've gone back to my seller, which gave me a new one, but now, i'll not use this client anymore for the moment....
Upping this thread so it don't die (cheer for v1 LS owner! i'm with you)
I have now a new Buffalo LS-CHl 1TB NAS drive. I installed the 1.21 FW and everything is the same. The Bittorent settings are not saved. After rebooting the drive, there are the setting restores to defaults. Please SOLVE this problem. Beacuse it is non sense without correct working of bittorren client. The bittorent feature is useless on this device.
Can any body tell me what is the difference between 1.0 and 1.2 (2) version of Buffalo LS-CHL NAS device??
I have the exact same problem. The last post was 2 years ago and this still isn't fixed? Am I doing something wrong. The Bit Torrent Client is not seeding to private trackers!!!
I'm still having trouble with my download speed when using the nas bit torrent.
I've already checked and the port forwarding is working.
Same torrent when downloaded from my mac comes in at 1MB/s whilst the nas will only get around 200KB/s.
Any news about how to fix this?
