OK, haven't set one of these up in a while, but I think I got a brick this time.
http://192.168.11.1 -> nothing
ping 192.168.11.1 -> nothing
ran buffalo software (Win XP) -> could not connect
Set LAN on XP machine to static IP and repeated all above -> nothing.
Reset, unplugged, stared angrily, wept -> nothing
Lights up like normal, just no way to configure.
Brick? Am I missing something? I'm so unused to having a hardware prob. these days, I always think it's me...
Thanks for any advice.
Oh, and yes, I tried more than one XP machine and more than one ethernet cable.
OPERATOR ERROR!!!
Thank the computer gods.
@PCPiranha: Yup, both, power and G, LAN (not WAN) via straight cable (NOT XVER). Freakin' great response time, PCP!
I think I was so embarassed by the thought of another geek correcting some stupid mistake, that I guess I finally fired those synapses (coffee helped).
For any who follow in my footsteps: What I didn't do is set the proper static IP for the LAN: 192.168.11.x
I'm soooo glad I didn't have to RMA this thing, since I'd assured the client upon my reputation that this was better than a LinkSys. And I was right!
SOLVED ---> NOT A BRICK!!!
