: New user issues
: twhlgeezer August 13, 2010, 08:02:14 AM

Good morning,

First time user.

Can not see drive on PC after setup.

Model TS-RIXL6F4, firmware 1.32

Setup and on a local network, 192.168.1.96.  Connected via Win7PC at 192.168.1.97

Ran iSCSI tool

all went well, discovered at 192.168.1.96, iSCSI enabled, Volume: array1, connected to 192.168.1.97  all looks OK

Win7 iSCSI initiator properties shows discovered target at name irn.2004-08.jp.buffalp: TS.xxxx:array1

However initiator shows inactive

Attempting to connect gives the error

"Target does not have enough resources to process request"

So I am not able to see the iSCSI as a drive in Computer Management-> Disks.

Any help getting connected would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bill

I may have answered my own question.  Win7 32bit not able to see the large (4t) volume may be the issue.

Got the Win7 machine connected, moving now to server-

I am trying to connect Win Server 2008 with 3 nics to a the new Buffalo iSCSI Terastation III, using a dedicated nic.  The Terastation connection tool works fine, finds the device with no problem.
Then using the MS ISCSI initiator, I attempt to configure as follows.
Open "Discovery"  and the portal is dicovered OK, names the portal and appears in window.
Next go to "Targets", name appears as inactive.  Press connect ->advanced and put in correct adapter, initiator IP and target IP.
Next try to connect and get "Out of Resources" message, with no clue as to why this is reporting.

The iSCSI was set up on the WIN7 machine, drives connect fine, web interface works, etc. I did turn off the Win7 machine to see if there was any possibility that only one coneection was permitted.

Any pointers appreciated.

Looking further into it, I believe that the problem may by that multipath I/O is not set up correctly.  WOuld appreciate any pointers on that.

Thanks

Update:  For some reason the MS iSCSI initiator supplied with S2008R2 out of the box does not support MCS Multiple Connections.  Any pointers to one that would support MCS?

Thanks

I don't think the iSCSI device supports multiple connections per volume.  Let me look into that and apologies for the delayed response.

Many thanks, I inherited this box and have been tearing my hair out.

As I thought, multiple connections to a single volume will cause corruption.  For each device you want to connect it will have to have it's own volume.  Sorry again for the delay.

OK thanks for that!  Not good news, but now I can deal with it!
