If this is unchecked, any overwrite backup will overwrite filesalready existing on the share. This is useful if you want a backup thatseems to be mirrored exactly in structure. There will be issues if youbackup 2 shares to a single share

Specify whether data should be compressed when it is transferred for backup.
Create log files of the backup on the source folder.
If enabled, after a backup failure, subsequent scheduled backups will still be performed

Hi Paul,
I have one question to what you said.
The last option :
" Overwrite Backup (Differential):
Saves as "_backups\sourcename\data". Does a complete backup the first time, subsequent backups only send the changes. If a file is on the destination that is not on the source, it will be deleted. "
Does it mean that new files, isn't added to the previous backup ??
BR
Peter
Who talked about deleting ??
I'm talking about adding.
And yes, i could run a test, but i have trouble enough to get it to work in the first place. I just wanna know how it is suppose to work.

When would you choose a complete/differential backup over differential backup? Since the initial backup on a differential is a complete one and subsequent backups copy over the changes, it seems like the end results of both of these methods would be the same: a backup destination synchronized with a source destination. The only difference I would imagine is that the complete backup takes longer.
What am i missing?
Doesn't look like the menu was fixed in firmware release 2.11 which was recently released. I am now using 2.11 and the backup menus are the same. Also, I cannot cancel a backup no mater what I do.
When is Buffalo going to get serious about product support. This is the last product I will ever purchase from Buffalo.
Yeah, Im on firmware 2.14 and they still haven't fixed it. What's up with that?
Also, when there is any kind of an error message on the machine it stays there until you reboot. That's ridiculous.
Add to that the fact that it doesn't speak NTFS and you've got some serious drawbacks.
