How do other people download from my linkstation mini ?
Only Upload is a menu possibilty in the webinterface.
I have the exact same question. My web service is setup correctly, and I can access my LinkStation from the outer side of my router.
What I wanted to do was to give my family access to my files - AND download them. Unfortunately it is not possible to download the files, which makes the LinkStation more or less useless.
Other user can open, rename, or delete a file, as well as create a folder and upload a file. HOW DO THEY DOWNLOAD ???
If have some mp3 files on my LinkStation, and the only way to download them is to click "Open". If no media player is installed on the users PC (actually, no installed programs have a mp3 file association), Windows offers the option to Save the file to disk.
If f.ex. Windows Media player is installed, it just buffers the file and starts playing.
Once again: How do my family and other people download from my LinkStation ???

Well, you should be able to click on the file to download it. Try right clicking it and select "save file" or "save target".
What Firmware version do you have? Try updating it!
Hi Kevin !
Thankīs for your answer.
My firmware version is 1.06 and webaccess 2.2.
Right clicking on files donīt give me any download options.
Should it be an option in the webaccess interface or is it through FTP ?
Regards Jørgen
Hi Glenn !
You are absolutly right. The linkstation is useless if download isnīt possible.
Thatīs the hole idear with a Linkstation.
So can somebody give us an answer ?

Hello again
My firmware version is 1.07, which should be the newest available.
Right-clicking actually does the job for me - select "Save target as...". Do not right-click on the file title - right-click on the "Open", "Rename", or "Delete" link.
This is not the functionality I'd expected, but it's better than nothing, and it solves the problem with downloading a single file.
I'd expected functionalities like downloading multiple files, or even folders. I believe these possibilities will be available using the FTP service. Haven't had time yet time explore this...

My LinkStation is a LinkStation Live - that's why my firmware version is 1.07.
It is correct, that the latest firmware version available for LinkStation Mini is 1.06.
I don't know if that makes any difference regarding the download issue.

I just did testing with the same firmware on both the mini and live-chl and didn't have any problems. You just need to click on open next to the particular file and it starts downloading. You should have three options next to the file name; open, rename and delete.
Just make sure you're looking in the larger window on the right not the list of files on the left.

You are correct about FTP. Depending on the FTP client you use (I really like Filezilla), you'll have the ability to download whole directory structures.
Webaccess was intended as a simple HTTP file server with easy access through BuffaloNAS.com, not as a replacement for FTP. I'll forward these requests to our corporate office.
When i press open my Mediaplayer open the file. I donīt see any download option.
Thank you
JNO.
That was my point in the first message. If MediaPlayer, or some other player, is installed on the local PC, it starts playing.
What you have to do is right-click the Open, and then select "Save target as...".
Not very intuitive, but it works.
