First- An LS-L320GL is NOT a LinkStation Live, it is a LinkStation EZ! Im not sure if you have two devices or just got a little confused on the models.
Yes, you should be able to access the data from anything that can read the filsystem on the USB drive. (If its formatted to XFS or ext3 you will need a Linux-based OS).
Thanks for your reply. I have the LinkStation Live 320. To save keystrokes I shortened the name to LSL320, but that was just unfortunately ambiguous shorthand. I do have the LinkStation Live.
Yes, my USB drive is formatted to XFS. I don't have a linux system, but since my recovery plan would be to simply plug the backup drive into a new Buffalo NAS, it sounds like I'll be ok in the event of the LinkStation Live's failure someday. Good to know the format used for my backup drive will be compatible with other Buffalo NAS models.
