: LinkStation Live LS-CH500L Forgotten Password
: simonedwards58 February 08, 2009, 11:24:26 AM

I can't access my linkstation via a vista pc. I have reset the password in the web admin program and now can't login.

I have tried Holding in the function button with no joy and also tried to go into EM mode by turning the unit on and off a few times.

Neither of the above have worked. Im not even sure i have done the process correctly can you help?

Try holding down the function button for six seconds while turning on the unit  then press the function for 1 second. that should reset it.

Shut the device off with the power switch, wait until it shuts down completely. Once it's off, hold the function button down while you turn the power switch to the "ON" position. The lights will start flashing. Then tap the function button again, and the light pattern should change. Wait several minutes for the device to reset.

thanks guys. I had tried the function button without success.

I have now fixed it. The key to entering EM Mode is to leave the on/off switch in the ON position and to just unplug the power every time the unit takes longer than 50/60 seconds to boot. I had to repeat this process at least 8 times before it went into EM Mode as indicated in the NAS Navigator.

I also found that i needed to have the Buffalo connected directly to my pc with the following IP 192.168.11.***. Note the Buffalo had 192.168.11.150. Once i was in EM Mode and connected as above i was able to apply a firmware update, this reset the password for me.

Note once the firmware was applied the webadmin panel was in Japanese.

I hope this helps others with the same issue

I have just purchased this device for work

All these options for resetting the unit to factory defaults do not work.

Funny how when you try to change the IP to use other than DHCP it prompts for a password & when you enter password it works so that you can assign whatever IP you want.

Just cant do any WebAdmin as admin so what am i supposed to do?

Appreciate any help

What firmware is your device running?
