: Linkstation HS-DH500GL - No Network Connections
: dbressler1976 April 14, 2009, 08:24:47 PM

My linkstation has stopped communicating with my network.  I cannot ping, use web access, see with NasNavi, etc.  I cannot see it using my Ubuntu 8.10, Fedora 11, Windows Vista (32-bit), or Windows Vista Business (32-bit) machines.  I have tried downloading the firmware update (HS-DHGL_211_101b.zip) and the TFTP Boot Recovery and running in Windows.  I followed the directions for both found in other threads (assign 192.168.11.1 address, turn off firewall, antivirus, boot to EM mode, etc.) and still cannot see the NAS.  None of the tools report that the drive even exists.  The green light is solid for power and link/act.  The drive routinely has activity.  I have tried hooking it directly to the PC and through my router.

If I remove the drive from the case and use a usb caddy I can still mount three different partitions in Linux.  All my data is still OK and I have backed it up.

Any suggestions?  I have read several other posts, but in most cases they can at least ping the box.  When I ping the assigned address (192.168.1.251) I get no response.

Thanks in advance.

Are you getting any error/diag lights?

5 days ago had the four blinking red error lights for fan problem, but no error lights or alarms for the last 5 days.  Just green power and solid green Link / Act.

When I got  home from work today the alarm on my Linkstation was beeping.  The red error light at the bottom would blink 4 times, then repeat.  I powered off / on and have had green lights for a while now, but still no network connectivty as stated above.

Well you need to flash the firmware.  Make sure you have all firewalls disbled and the NASNAVI isnt running when running the updater.  To ensure this you can hook it up directly to your CPU, set a static IP with the same subnet as the LS and boot your CPU into safe mode with networking

The TFTP boot option will only work if the device is sending out TFTP requsets.  When it is getting the E04 error it is sending out those requests.  If it ever gets the E04 again do the TFTP boot option.
