: Upload files from the Web side
: DeanRobinson December 04, 2008, 07:00:28 PM

Is there a way to upload files from the Web side to a Link Station Live Drive? I see no option for this. I can Log in and download files with no problems and upload files localy. Is it possible to do that remotly via the Web?

Thanks!

Dean

Depending on what model you have you can update the firmware to obtain this option, however if you can not, FTP is always an option.

The Linkstation Live's do not have a write or upload option for web access. The only way to upload or write data to the Linkstation Live's from the internet is with the FTP server on the device.

First open port 21 in your router to the nas, then from a PC on your network go to IPchicken.com

this will tell you the IP of your router.

then type from anywhere ftp://IP_OF_ROUTER

so for example it would be ftp://24.68.72.126

that will work

Worked like a charm! I used Core FTP LT "It well written and it is free" set it up, logged in and was able to upload files.

Thanks!

Glad to hear it. Filezilla is a very nice, free FTP client as well.
