: LS-500GL OSX problem after firmware 1.11 update
: redrodan September 17, 2008, 03:49:31 PM

I summited this information to support but I thought maybe I should post it here as well.

I have the LS-500GL and I upgraded the firmware to 1.11  Ever since then, My MacBook gets a Error code -5014 everytime I try to mount to the LS-500GL.  My windows machines appear unaffected by the firmware change.  I didn't find any information on the knowledge base that mentions this problem.

I contacted online support before and they suggested a hard reset on the unit.  I tried that and it did not fix the problem.  Do you have any other suggestions?

Does anyone know if I can revert back to the older firmware?  The only version I see in the archive section is 1.03 Nothing inbetween 1.03 and 1.11

Make sure that you have apple talk enabled in the share folder setup.  Also see if you mount the drive in your mac with SMB so map it like this go/connect to/server

then type   smb://IP_address_of_LS/

TIP: I would also recommend zapping the PRAM on your Mac (shut the Mac off, then hold down apple option P, R) while booting up the machine.  You will here it chime 3 times after the third chime let it go it will boot normally.  This should fix it.

This method does seem to work now after the PRAM zapping.

go/connect to/server
then type   smb://IP_address_of_LS/
Before PRAM reset I would lose mounted share randomly while using the MacBook

Before the firmware update I was doing the following:
go/connect to/serve
then type IP_address_of_LS (not adding teh smb://)

at Connect to Server dialog I would log in as guest or a registered user.
After clicking connect I would select the volume to mount.
Once I had this I would drag the Share to the Login Items.
After the firmware updated I would get the error -5014 at this point

(I'm a new Mac user so please forgive not knowing all the Mac OS network basics)
