: Terastation Pro access issue
: ironpaw October 16, 2008, 12:20:49 AM

Hi all,

I've just setup a Terastation and joined it to our AD/domain.

It works fine except for the following problem:

I'm trying to provide only the IT Support group read/write access. Everyone else (Domain Users) will only have read access.

However, after setting the appropriate permissions, IT Support users cannot write to the NAS. I believe this is due to the Domain User's read only permission (which over writes the IT Support's write permissions...as everyone in IT Support are domain users...)

So, question is - how can I give the IT Support group write access without creating new groups in AD, or adding IT Support users individually into the "Users" permission list?

Thanks!

The user should have read/write access to the folder. However, if youhave the user in a group which is in the read only category then theread permissions would be the dominant ones.  If this is not what your experiencing then try justdefaulting the unit from the reset button on the back, this won'taffect any of the data stored on the unit, only configuration settings.

Well, the issue now is that the read permission overwrites the read/write permissions. So, is there any way around this other then to:

Create a new group for ALL domain users EXCEPT for the IT support team and give them read access only;

add each member of the IT Support team into the read write group.
