: Remote backup backup, LinkStation to LinStation
: PeterLarsen October 13, 2008, 05:38:19 AM

Hi,

I have two LinkStation Pro Duo 1.0 TB Nas.

My problem is that i'm not able to do a full backup to the other linkstation (remote backup).

On server 1, i have a backup folder where the daily backups goes to. Once a week i want server 1 to backup the entire backup folder and send it to server 2.

The problem is, that the backup job stops after about 200 mb. Well, it doesn't stops, the job is till active, but nothing happens. There are about 75000 files using 100 gb disk space.

This morning, i tried a smaller job (500 mb) and it went well.

I want to understand what goes wrong - is it a file, directory, the number of files, bad router, anything - what can i do to fix this ??

Thank you in advance.

BR

Peter

First make sure both units are up to date on the firmware and please set the units back to factory defaults in the web interface (this will not cause data loss, only configuration settings)

Are both models the same?

Hi Paul,

Both models are the same, LS-WTGL/R1-V3 F/W 3.07.

I have downloaded the latest firmware from your website (VERSION=3.07-0.00, BOOT=1.13, KERNEL=2008/07/22 15:57:50, INITRD=2008/07/22 15:58:12, ROOTFS=2008/07/22 15/59:00), but is is the same version as i already have (3.07) - Are there any differences (should i update) ??

I still think it might has something to do with the number of files or/and perhaps long paths/filenames.

I say that because most of the shares seems to be successfully copied, and a few don't. One of the shares also gives me problems doing backups using Nero Backup software. It sometimes happens when i have unpacked a large zip files. Deleting the files again, solve the problem.

But in this case, i don't know whats going on. There are no progress indication - nothing that could indicate what file or directory that cause this error.

What happens when setting the units back to factory defaults ??

Do i loose users, user access informations, shares, servernames, dhcp mode, time mode etc ??

/Peter

Correct all settings will be wiped, however the share names (along with the data), will still be there.

I will try to recreate the issue here, but we have several of them running large jobs all the time with out issueLet me know how they react after the reset.
