I need the english firmware to restore my WHR-G300N. I installed the Japanese firmware by mistake and now I have the interface in Japanese.
Where I can download the firmware in English?
Thank you.
You could try the Uk site. The USA site doesn't have it yet. |
Do you happen to have a link to the firmware? I selected Region:Europe/English, but didn't see a firmware listed for the WHR-G300N.
Also, searching for WHR-G300N on the site shows zero results.
Thanks for your assistance.
If its not availale on the UK site either than it might just take awhile to be posted. You would want to check back at a later date.
There is no firmware available because there have been no updates as of yet. I will make a request to have the original firmware posted.
We in the US do not control the UK site. This was a suggestion to check their website for updates, as they may have it posted before us.
I recommend contacting Buffalo Japan's technical support to see if they have an English firmware, since judging by your IP address, you are in Japan. Firmware is supported only for the region the device was purchased in.
I actually bough it in the US and then I upgrade to the Japanese firmware without knowing it would also change the language.
I need to revert it in English now but to do so I need the original firmware.
Can you extract the original firmware from the WHR-G300N and upload somewhere? That would be very helpful.
What is the latest English firmware anyway? Is it still 1.60?
My WHR-G300N still makes constant data breaks for about 5 Minutes a few times a day. HTTP will go complete dead. But for unknown reasons Flashget downloader still downloadds, but goes down to 170K/S (it's about 700K when HTTP is working).

Any news on the firmware?

I'am waithing for this firmware almost half of the year, but nothing yet,Not even the version 1.60 is not avalible anywhere, really strange :(
This is soo bad. How can a company not provide the firmware of its products? I swear this is the last time I buy something from Buffalo.
In the mean time, anybody has any idea I can we get this firmware? Writing directly to Makoto Maki maybe?

The version 1.60 of English firmware has been published here: http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads/nfiniti-wireless-n-router-access-point-whr-g300n/
It says 1.06 but I think that is a mistake. The file name is "WHR-G300N_1.60_1.49_EU_eng_ram_1.9.0.0_SAMPLE.enc"
Any ETA for the version 1.61? (available here since January 22nd http://buffalo.jp/download/driver/lan/whr-g300n_fw.html)
After discussing this with Buffalo's US and Japan corporate offices, I have a question and some more info for you.
How did you update the unit with the Japanese firmware in the first place?
Since you live in Japan, here's some info I got from my Japanese counterparts:
It is illegal to use an overseas wireless LAN unit by Japanese law. See the following link:
http://www.tele.soumu.go.jp/e/monitoring_qa/index.htm
The only possible way that I can see to avoid legal trouble (this is NOT legal advice) is to leave the Japanese firmware on the device. As far as I know, the US and Japanese versions of WHR-G300N have the same hardware, so the firmware difference should be the only thing that has potential legal issues. The US and Japan have different regulations when it comes to this type of equipment.

I think it's sufficient to say that users are so desperate for a new firmware revision that they're inadvertently breaking the law to fix issues with the existing software.
Personally, I don't have issues with my WHR-G300N at the moment but let's hope I don't run into any!

Original US firmware 1.60 is now available on the US site. Keep in mind, firmware is only supported for the region in which the device was purchased.
This firmware (that was already announced severl days ago in this thread) seems not working.
Did you test it before publishing on line?
