I just bought this wi-fi usb adapter, ( Edimax 7711-UMN = Specification ) I can't configure it out how to work with my Buffalo WHR-G300N, the signal is very weak considering that both are 802.11n compliant.
Pls. help me. thanks

The signal is weak or the connection speed is slow? and make sure you don't have another adapter on at the same time.(maybe internal etc)
-
The router and usb adapter are connected but my problem is the transfer rate and signal rate with respect to distance. The 802.11g function is much more better when my set up is in 802.11n.
I can't utilize the full function of the usb device, is there any compatibility issue or it's just a matter of configuration.
Thanks,

That Edimax adapter speed is maxed at 150mbps, try enabling 40mhz Channel Width in the router to make sure the router is at max speed too. Check you have the latest drivers for the Edimax adapter.
-
okay I'll do that, thanks

I'm getting frustated, still it doesn't work.
SOS !
-
Try changing the channel that the router is using.

Did you try changing the wireless channel on the router to a static? I would suggest channel 6 for best results.
-
I'll Try. Thanks

What is the european channel set for 802.11n ?
-
I'm getting to disapoint with this router, i think it's not yet capable of 802.11n .....

The router is N capable, and make sure 40mhz mode is selected in the router so it will go up to 300mbps speed. I'm sure you've seen the specification of the adapter? That adapter only supports up to 150mbps.

I've got poor connection and very low speed in a distance of 3 meters. Excellent connection and 135 mbps speed when the two device is very near to each other.
Anyway thanks to your support. Maybe I'll just look for other options.

I haven't tested N on this router yet since I don't have an N adapter but I use G and it works perfectly (excellent signal, 54mbps negotiation rate). It must be the Edimax adapter, I'd try another adapter before changing the router.

yes i would try other adapter, thanks
