I've been trying to update the 1.00_1.26 firmware on my WZR2-G300N to the just-released 1.52_1.22, but I get an error every time. I've downloaded the firmware several times (which comes as a zip file anyway) to make sure that it isn't corrupted.
Any help much appreciated.

"Firmware Update Failed!" followed by the 40s reset.
I am getting the same message when trying to update the firmware. The current firmware is also 1.00_1.26.
I contacted Buffalo on the 20th but still haven't heard from them, despite the fact that they claim to reply within 48 hours tops.
I have attempted this, with no luck. I still get the same error:
Now re-starting!
Firmware Upgrade Fail!
Estimated time to restart about 60s.
Please Wait... 60s. later, if the page does not automatically refresh, click here.
Is the firmware update worth the hassle of trying to resolve this issue?
I have got exactly the same problem. The update from 1.00_1.26 to 1.52_1.22 fails every time with message:
Now re-starting!
Firmware Upgrade Fail!
Estimated time to restart about 60s.
Please Wait... 60s. later, if the page does not automatically refresh, click here.
I have tried updating from Linux + Firefox (no firewalls) and from Windows + IE (disabled antivirus software). I have pushed the reset button at the back of the router first. I have tried updating from WLAN side and from Ethernet side. I have downloaded the firmware several times during the last three days. I have also updated with the same version (1.00_1.26 over 1.00_1.26) and it updated with success. But still the update to 1.52 fails every time.
With best regards from Finland,

Still here...and still haven't resolved this issue! I've tried using different computers, Ethernet and WLAN, router factory reset and disabling of all security on computers and router, but nothing works.
Remember, you are not alone ;)
Where are you guys getting the new firmware? I just checked the USA support page for this router and still just see the 1.00_1.26 FW....
I'll see if I get the same error if you can point me towards to FW.
Thanks
Ah HA! I am in the US and when selecting the US region, I don't see that download. Selecting no region or Europe shows the firmware.
Trying the update now...
Update was a no go. I got the same firmware update failed message.
I did notice that the FW has an "EU" in the file name, and since it is not available through the US site, I wonder if the hardware is coded to the US and won't take the EU FW?

That's possible, but my router (for one) is the 240V EU model, bought in the UK. Buffalo support have sent me a previous firmware (but later than 1.00_1.26) to try. I'm away from home until the end of next week but I'll experiment with it then.
My device is also bought from EU area and I'm using it here at EU area/Finland.
I would be very happy to test the previous firmware too... :)
Hi Paul,
Do you need any more information from my unit? For example the settings, serial number or something else? I would be glad to submit anything what might be helpful.
With best regards,

I get the same error trying to update to 1.52
Thank you for this information Paul. I'll wait for firmware update.
I managed to update to 1.02 and then to 1.52 last night. One thing I also did was to shorten the filename of the 1.52 firmware, as it's extremely long and could be what's 'confusing' the router.
doonyakka, please can you be more specific ?
What was the change you made to the filename ?
Hi,
i have the same problems. I contacted the german support but they answered that they don´t have an old firmware to downgrade and that it should work.
"It worked for us so it should work for you"
I´m very disappointed with the support, because they did not even try to help me!
I have a lot of disconnections, so i hoped the new firmware would fix it.
My first Buffalo-Product and finally my last.
Can someone send me an older firmware than 1.26 ?
any news on this update? I tried renaming an still get the same error.
do we even know what 1.52 changes?
cheers
Jez
Same problem here. Tried renaming the file, no luck. Is there any more progress on this?
Thanks!
I have a solution for upgrading to 1.52.
As some have noted the 1.26 version does not allow upgrading to 1.52.
So what you need is the following:
* The 1.02 firmware from http://buffalotech.co.kr/customer/download/download_storage_view.htm?tb=Download&pkey=115&page=26&rkey=&rkey2=
Direct link is ftp://buffalokorea.dyndns.org/array1/buffalo/buffalo%20server/Access%20point/WZR2-G300N/WZR2-G300N_FW%20102_101.bin
* The 1.52 firmware from this site, direct link is http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/getfile/?WZR2-G300N_1.52_1.22_EU.zip
The procedure i used was this:
1. Apply the 1.02 firmware using the Update screen in the router.
2. After the update you will need to log in to the router and apply the 1.52 firmware.
3. On my system the router now switched to 192.168.11.100, due to it being used in "Access Point Mode".
4. Access the router and now you should have version 1.52 installed.
Note: I take no responsibility for any problems that may arise form this procedure, but as far as i can tell
everything seems to be working as it should.
I am trying to downgrade from 1.52. Anyone know how to do this?
